Hello,

I am also thinking about what Watch I should take... it will be my first Watch and I don't know what to do.

The only 2 things I may miss from SE to 7 are the Always On Display and the larger screen.

However, I couldn't find any suitable offer yet. If I found something for less than 299 € I would go for 7 for sure. Now even the Amazon Warehouse with "acceptable" status is 340 € the cheapest. Any idea if this used to be discounted for Prime Day? Any experience buying at Amazon Warehouse?

I am looking for only-GPS device with a larger screen (44mm).

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Personally I’d pay the extra 40 and get the Series 7.

If you really don’t want to and don’t mind missing a few features then the SE will serve you well.

Some thoughts:
AOD and larger screen are very nice to have, but not necessary.
I would not buy an “acceptable” used watch, may be scratched or degraded battery.
If you buy an SE direct from Apple you can get the exact band you like, and have 14 days to try out (I assume this applies in EU).
My guess is S7 will not be discounted much, it is in high demand because it is almost same as S8, so they do not need to discount more to clear out old stock. I suspect pretty soon it will be hard to find a new S7

Yes, that's why I don't know what to do... Actually, I don't care about apple bands because I don't like especially any of them so I would buy a different one on Amazon for sure.

But I am worried if that "Acceptable" S7 is very bad... so in the end is better to go for the SE2 new. The larger screen is probably not that important and AOD I am not sure. I would love to pay around 299 (taxes includes) for the S7 but I have no idea if that would be possible anytime soon.

My main uses will be:
- Google Maps (I walk a lot in the cities so I would love to have the directions in my hand so I don't have to take my phone out of my pocket all the time).
- Notifications.
- Better Fitness stats.

If is only 40 € probably is worth going to the S7 but I am scared about "Acceptable" products at Amazon Warehouse. If the product was new then I would go for the 7 for sure.

Have you considered an Apple Refurbished model?

I don't see any Apple Watch at the Refurbished shop in Apple Store:

I had the 44mm S4 and 38mm S3, I used the smaller S3 mainly for playing sports and yard work since it was smaller and lighter. A couple weeks ago I must have hit my arm on something and cracked the screen.
Decided it look into the S8 but there wasn't much of an upgrade from S7 and there were some discounted. Also looked at the SE but it was basically the same as my S4.
Just about to buy the 49mm S7 and compared the 41mm to my 44mm and for almost the same physical size of my 38 I got almost the same size screen of the 44.

If the cost difference is only $40 the S7 is recommended over the SE. You'll get more features and use.

The prices / options right now are:
- Apple Store: 339 € 44 mm SE 2022 (GPS only).
- Amazon Ware House: 343 € 45mm S7 (GPS only). Status: Open Box - Acceptable (options of "very good or almost new are also available for 404 and 430 €... but I think is too much).

So is almost the same price if I go for that option.

There is also available in other stores the first SE version:

295 € at MediaMarkt.

Or refurbished at Back Market paying 204 €.

Why not go for the open box assuming you still get the 2 week return?

I am doing that at the end. This afternoon there were 3 Watch S7 for the price of 343 and now all of them are sold out, so probably there were more people thinking the same... Maybe I am lucky, I will let you know in 1 week.

SE every day. I’m not tight and went with 14 pro over 14. But when it came to the watches there wasn’t one small thing that I wanted on S8 that I wouldn’t get on SE. I actually wanted there to be one so I could spend more happily.

Always on is great on my phone but in a watch it makes no sense. Most of the day your watch is facing away from you and the minute you turn it towards yourself it comes on

I know size is important but 1 milímetre.

None of the health add ons interested me.

Yes, I think the SE for everyday use is my perfect watch. However, if I can have the S7 at the same price as the SE, then I think S7 is worth it. Let's see if the Amazon Warehouse S7 is in enough good condition and if I keep it. If not probably I will return it and go for the SE 2022. I am worried about physical damages and battery status. If the problem is any other (lack of charger...) then I will keep it.

I got a refurbished ("renewed") Apple watch series 7 (GPS) on Amazon for ~$290 (including tax) which I thought was a good deal. I realize it is always a bit of a risk buying used from amazon but I'm wearing it right now. Battery capacity is at 100% and it came with all the original accessories. I literally can't tell it isn't new (except for the boxes were clearly used).

I was struggling hard with this decision. For me it came down to the qwerty keyboard, which isn't available on the SE 2. Being able to quickly reply to texts without my phone (and without using voice, which I personally hate) was a big part of my reason for getting the apple watch in the first place.

Perhaps a dumb questions as I'm not into all of these differences between models.

Are the same watch faces available on the SE2 and Series 7?

I believe the Contour watch face is only on the S7/S8/Ultra. It was introduced to show off the larger screen of the S7. Not a big deal.
EDIT: Also the Modular Duo, which some people quite like

Mine arrives on Thursday. Can't wait to see if I found a perfect deal or is a piece of **** full of scratches. :D

So, the Watch arrived today (1 day before the estimated day) and everything looks new (including the packaging, maybe opened 1 time but everything is in its place). No scratches at all, battery life is 100%. All the accessories are in their proper packaging.

What should I check to see if everything is alright? Is there any way to check the Battery Cycles? Something with the serial number?

Warranty says until July 10 2023.

Thanks!

I thought I saw someone complaining awhile back that Apple wouldn't cover iPhones resold by Amazon (I can no longer find that post). Can anyone confirm?

Glad it worked out for you, probably just a return from someone who had buyers remorse or went with the Ultra.
Not sure if there's a way to check cycles but if you go into watch settings you can check the battery health.
