SE3 screen size is 4.7” 16:9
Mini13 5.4” * 85.48% = 4.62” 16:9

No doubt Apple will not release new less popular Mini phone anymore

By the way iPhone 13 6.1” 16:9 area is just 5.2”, it is not that much bigger

For display area, the iPhone 13 mini is larger at over 11 sq in vs. 9.4 sq in for the SE.

Yeah but not 16:9

16:9 area is what matter most of the time

When you watch or read something, you mainly look at the square area in front of you

Almost all YouTube videos are still 16:9

Maybe only you look at the area just in front of your eyes but I certainly don't.

When reading Web pages or social media I start at the top and read to the bottom. The taller aspect ratio means more text and less scrolling. Winner.

I also watch a lot of netflix on the go and quite a bit of content is not 16:9 so again, the taller aspect ratio is better - for me.

I see what you’re saying. It probably would have been clearer to say “16:9 video is bigger on SE3 than mini 13”. That should be clear since the SE3 display is wider (though vertically shorter) than the elongated mini 13 display.
But unless 16:9 video is the main thing you’re doing on your phone, I would think overall screen surface area size should be most relevant (edit- most relevant in a conversation about what has the biggest screen size).

Really depends on the user. I don’t read a webpage using 16:9 in landscape. I don’t do that for YouTube either. If I want to watch a 16:9 clip, it’ll be on iPad or MacBook.

I still keep my 5.5” 16.9 Android phone at home to watch YouTube and web browsing. Even read stuff with wording like browsing is so much more comfortable with this 5.5” old Android comparing to my iPhone 11 6.1”. Wording and everything is just bigger. Long phone with narrower screen shows more content at the bottom area but I just focus on what I am reading in front of me.

I would rather have default bigger wording and everything, then scrolling more.

Fwiw, I agree… I far prefer the aspect ratio of my 8+ to my (work) Pixel 5; or the newer iPhones I’ve tried in stores. And I’m talking about reading text in portrait mode, not watching videos in landscape.

It feels bigger regardless partially due to the higher PPI and since any widescreen content can be zoomed edge-to-edge which gives the effect of a much larger cinematic display.

So, what. Are you trying to convince yourself the SE 3 is for you, or are you trying to convince people you don't know that they should get the SE 3?

Each person has different needs and wants when it comes to phones.

Have to say I do miss the 16:9 aspect ratio phones, popped my Galaxy Note 4 out it’s box some weeks ago and it felt so good trying out a 16:9 5.7inch phone again, it definitely feels a lot more comfortable, it took me a long time to adjust to these tall aspect ratios and to be quite honest I have never thoroughly enjoyed watching videos on any phone I have had since the Note 4 be it Samsung, Apple or Huawei due to 18.9:9, 19.5.9 or 21:9. Used a mates of mines iPhone 8 Plus to at a wedding a few weeks ago and again that 16:9 aspect ratio just makes so much sense.

On the Note 4 I could actually stand watching a movie on a flight on it, it was much better to consume media on 16:9.

With the above being said for most other things I am fine with the 19.5:9 of my 11 Pro Max due to it providing more portrait content, but if 16:9 were to miraculously make a comeback in smartphones I would be overjoyed. ?

Unfortunately for now it seems 21:9, 19.5:9 and 18:9 are here to stay. ?

I also like 16:9 better than these really long screens now. But I actually think 16:9 is too long as well. For a phone, I like 3:2. So we all like different things, nothing is better than the other.
The only thing objectively true about 16:9 is that most videos probably use that aspect ratio. Hence why I said what I said.

I will wait for non pro max and just want to point out the practical screen area of SE3 is actually bigger than Mini

I barely watch any videos on my phone, even the Max is to small for that.
And for the rest (reading, messaging, browsing, ...) having a "taller" screen is beneficial for me. Could not care less about 16:9 aspect ratio....

But it's all about personal prefrerence so there is no such thing as "the practical" screen area.
