Seagate Freeagent GO for mac?

Hi

I purchased this

Seaagent Go Portable I guessed it would work with my 3 year old tiger iMac. However, it is not appearing on my desktop or in disk utility despite the lights being on. I have the 320 GB and it works just fine. I thought disk utility worked with any HDD??

Any help so I can format this drive and use it with OSX?

update:

Restarted my iMac and swapped it to different USB port and it seems to have recognised it this time! Woop Woop!

No need to worry now!

Sounds like a bad USB port.

actually, certain usb ports in the imac don't provide enough power to run external usb drives. same with the macbooks. i forget the exact sequence, but it's consistent across all imacs.

well, not "bad" as in it's broken. that's just how the usb ports are connected to each other. some provide more power than others.
