seagate goflex hardrive issue

The disk utility sees the hard drive but the finder cant see it.
disk utility cant repair it .
how can i get my finder to see it ?
do I have to reformat it?
how do I save or transfer all the data on it?

did you see a grayout folder in disk utility? or it's completed nothing but just a drive icon? try to get a copy of disk warrior and try it..
