Let me ask you guys this. Do you think these problems related to a bootcamp partition? I got rid of mine when I upgraded and decided to run vmware's fusion 64 bit windows 7.

It's amazingly fast on the quad core. Scored a 6.0 index on 7's performance rating just using 1/2 my ram and cores. Which, is actually pretty impressive.

Here we go...like every thing electronic you will have failures, sorry that yours failed but move on with your life. I have one and have put it through hell and I have no problems at all, no clicking, no failure, no noise.

Watch the temp of the drive while it's working. Try transcoding a video on it. The temp will exceed it's Max Operating Tempurature in about 10 minutes of heavy use. Max Operating temp is 60c, Mine has hit 62-63c under load.

The drive WILL fail prematurely at some point, it just runs too hot.

I just installed a new xt drive into my new 2011 13" MBP. Everything went fine until I booted up. The drive makes these random popping/clicking noises. It doesn't do it all the time, usually when it's just sitting there not being used. It seems to get worse by the day. It functions perfectly but the noise is forcing me to return it to Tiger. I should have purchased the WD Black instead.

Is this drive worth the trouble? In theory it would be such a great compromise between capacity and speed but here and in the seagate forums I read nothing but problems. Is anyone really happy with this drive?

I'm happy. Can't find any problems with mine.
