I've been thinking about picking up a portable, battery powered, wifi hard drive. The most popular one I've seen appears to be the Seagate Wireless Plus, previously named the GoFlex Satellite. I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with these or if you have any advice for alternative options. The $199 price tag seems a bit steep and I don't really need 1TB of storage. I would rather have a lower price with maybe 250-500GB of storage and great battery life.

My ideal setup would be something cheapish that would allow me to swap/install a ssd drive. Maybe even a DIY kind of drive that is sold without a hard drive installed.

Any ideas?

Also, just to clarify, Im not looking something that allows me to access my home network files over a different existing network. I want something that is going to create a network for me.
