Hi. I see some threads several months ago, but I am still a bit confused.

I am interested in getting a great 4k monitor without spending an arm-and-a-leg. I want it to work seamlessly - so I think I need one which works off a USB-C wire. I am not sure which monitors may not look so good / aren't so compatible. For example, I saw complains regarding Dell's compatibility with Apple.

I am not gaming. I am not doing visual work. Mostly professional + pleasure. I think I plan to use it with my Macbook open.
What is a solid 4k monitor choice? LG 27UK850? Dell U2720Q?

Thanks!
I bought the LG 27UN850-W 27 Inch Ultrafine UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS Display for nearly $500 and it works poorly with the new MacBook M1. The scaling (aspect) changes randomly, sometimes after sleep, sometimes in the middle of a session. Also the Mac Profile (in the About menu) seems to say it has a USB 2 Hub connected to two USB 3.1 connectors. That doesn't seem to slow the data, but, again randomly, it just decides not to charge the MacBook M1 even though it is plugged into the USB 3 port with the LG supplied cable. Doing research, NOW I find this has been a known problem for 3-4 years.

I'm using the Dell U2720Q for 6 months now and it's still ok (Intel MBP though). In 4k, 60Hz and 30-bit mode it defaults to USB2.0 for the hub, although I've read it should have sufficient bandwidth for 3.0. Otherwise I have nothing to complain about, although user posting above have had issues with it.
