Searching local iTunes library: 'Director' field

As far as I can discern, you cannot search your local library (those movies etc stored on your HDD) for the 'director' field in iTunes. I was wanting to find all Eric Rohmer films, and had to end up doing things manually.

I am aware that a 'power' search is available for the iTunes store but not your local content. Is there a way to do what i want or is plea the only option?

I may be wrong but I think you can create a smart playlist to do this.
