    Hey guys,
I've been looking at MacBooks on eBay (and similar) and have read many people say "search the serial number on the Apple website"

I tried to do this a few minutes ago, it didn't work.

Could someone please explain how to do it properly?

    Thanks for your time.
    Have a good one.

Where exactly did you look (link)?

Did you try this: http://www.apple.com/support/ ?

Should you look at the Apple sit for the serial number to verify it wasn't stolen?

If you want some detailed information on the serial number, you could try this site. It's in German (I think) but all you need to do is put in the serial number and it will tell you all sorts of interesting things about your computer - the week it was made, model, etc.

Here is another page for serial number information, a little more detailed than the one mentioned before, which is Dutch by the way.
