The First was infuriating. It had a great premise and a somewhat interesting first episode but after that it spent most of its runtime dealing with the relationship between brat daughter and useless father instead of, ya know, this massive mission to Mars! At least For All Mankind had an equal mix. The revisionist history got old but again at least it wasn't as bad as NatGeo's The Right Stuff, which took well known and documented events and historical figures, and took a steaming dump on both. The part that almost lost me was the writers fantasy-fulfilling indictment of Von Braun. Again, handled better than The Right Stuff's bizarre racist drunken Santa Claus treatment, but it was still ridiculous.I agree with him, that is filler. I never got around to finishing season 1 at that point in the show. Its not what i watch sci-fi for. Same thing with The First on Hulu and Away on Netflix. Both of those focussed more on the family drama of parents leaving for mars missions, and not surprisingly.... both got cancelled after the first season.
