Still waiting for the update. Do I have to install beta 2 profile and connect it again with Xcode? I have already installed the profile from beta 1 on my iPhone.

I reinstalled the profile just in case but it still crashes to the homescreen when enabling beta software in developer settings, even after resetting the AirPods. I wonder if we'll have to wait for a new iOS 15 beta or it wont crash when the update is actually released?

Update on the crash situation: People on Reddit suggested to Reset all settings in order to fix this, I tried myself and it indeed fixed it, however still no success in installing the newest firmware so far

I've been having an issue on my phone where I can't turn on install pre-release firmware for AirPods thru developer part of settings. I've restarted Mac, phone, etc. Anyone else with this issue? I'm on latest iOS 15, Monterey, etc. I'd rather not reset all settings, if possible. might be IOS 15 beta related, too

Ok I finally managed to install the update after 2 days of trying, my AirPods didn’t want to update at all even though I had the beta firmware setting enabled. Turns out I had to reset all settings of my iPhone once again because the airpods showing up in developer settings weren’t the right ones (and it was stuck that way no matter what, even when I unpaired, forget device or reinstalled profile). Once I did that I paired the airpods as new ones and did the install process from the beginning. I now have the 4A362b firmware.
Now all I had to do is restore from a backup I made prior to that and Conversation Boost is working perfectly!

However even after restoring from backup I do still have the settings crashing when I enable beta firmware in developer settings, so that will require a new iOS 15 beta for sure.

Beta 5 released today solves the problem for me of the developers app crashing when you try to reenable install prerelease beta firmware on AirPods Pro.

I just got the firmware updated tonight. Can you tell me where you went to enable Conversation Boost? I can't find it anywhere.

NVM, found it:

Settings-Accessibilty-Airpods-Audio Accessibility settings-Headphone accommodations-Transparency Mode

Could have been a little more obvious but hey, just glad I got it working! I'm excited to try it with actual conversations tomorrow but it really does seem amplify sounds quite a bit. I'm just concerned that it will amplify everything including background noise like a TV and thereby lessen the functionality of hearing conversations better.

I honestly wish it had options while listening to music or anything it would boost audio conversation if you are talking to someone so you can actually hear what they say without pausing or taking off the airpods

Works fine on the latest iOS beta (no crashing), APP updated in a flash. Conversation boost is ok.

Hi @bbates123 , @Jutah , @votdfak , @DeftwillP

I am watching this thread with huge interest - by the beard of Zeus could Apple have finally fixed this?? So many people will be super happy if they have, a glass case of emotion!

See my thread with the description of APP microphone problem, and also example video of the problem (not my video but a YouTuber) here:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/airpods-pro-microphone-scandal-edit-proof.2282717/

You will also see the thread is somewhat entertaining as folks jump on to deny there is a problem, leading to fun hi jinks.

Meanwhile, on your thread, you are actually getting down to business and exploring the hell out the beta - something I am not skilled enough to do - kudos and thanks all. Fingers crossed!!

Yes, the problem is definetely there. No doubt about it. Forget about a fix from apple. After over a year we can't hope for that. The only thing we can hope for is the new "mic modes" that comes with ios15: unfortunately this modes are only for facetime calls 🙄 but if they extend it to the voice calls it could do the trick.

My AirPods STILL haven’t been updated. Wish there was a way to force the update

With the latest ios 15 RCs, is the final airpod firmware included? Or are we going to have to wait until presumably the official release?

The update process for AirPods has somehow always been just so randomly activated and incongruous with most other updateable Apple products. Even the Developer update process for AirPods is way more tedious than it needs to be. Apple really should just add a way to update AirPods from within the iOS Settings app.
How does one update the firmware? Is it automatic?

While it's not as simple as just telling it to update the firmware, Apple support finally gave me a set of steps that has worked every time for me so far.

- Listen to music or other audio for at least 30 seconds
- Put them back in the case and close the lid
- Connect the case to the charger
- Wait 30 minutes - do not open the case during this time, otherwise it starts all over again

Could it be just ”update now”? it would be much easier for most of us…
