I always run dual displays, typically with 2 identical monitors. I'm thinking about getting the new iMac but due to its unique style (particularly the colors) I can't imagine any second display on my desktop that would match it well.

Any suggestions?

Personally the only external display I’d consider is the LG UltraFine. Nothing will match in style so embrace the contrast.

It uses an odd resolution at 4.5k. You won’t find any matches. Unless Apple, LG or someone else decides to release a complementary monitor. Like LG did with 5K. It won’t be cheap. As it’s a custom resolution.

If you can, I would wait for Apple's rumored branded display as I expect if it exists, it will use the same 24" 4.5K panel.

If you cannot, I would shoot for a 23.5" 4K display at 3840x2160 as it will be the closest in resolution and have a decent ppi of ~187 (the iMac's 23.5" panel is 218ppi).

Going to reuse the 10 year old 27" TB display with the new M1 iMac.

My wife will love it since her 2019 iMac 21.5" requires an external SSD boot drive...

Current setup with 2019 iMac and 27" TB display:
