Hi,

A year ago I got more into apple since I got my mac mini on work.
I became a fan of OSX and now I wanna get my own macbook pro.

I already decided I want a 15inch model with 16GB of RAM.
But now I dont know which generation I should go for.

I dont do any gaming, but I need it to be smooth for example in photoshop.
I just care about a smooth experience on OSX, apps should start quickly and I dont want any lag while im scrolling or so.

What I now wanna know is if the difference between the new generation(2013) and older generation (2012).
Where should I aim for in specs?

2 options I am looking at now:

2.6 ghz quad core i7
256gb ssd
16gb ram
ati hd 4000 + 650m

and

2.3 ghz quadcore i7 (haswell)
256gb ssd
16gb ram
integrated iris pro graphics

Where the first one is the cheapest

I'd go with the newer one because of the Haswell chipset and the superior GPU especially if you're worried about PS being smooth. The newer one will also have the retina screen so it has that going for it.

I think both are retina.

Between the 650M and the Iris Pro, the 650M is superior to the Iris in most tasks except OpenCL.

So in general whats probably better for me?

The older one with 2 GPU's
or the newer one with only the integrated GPU?

They will both do what you need and more. Pick the one that makes you happy.

I would pick the newest model unless the older one was far less expensive......FAR LESS.
