Apple today seeded the second public betas of upcoming iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 betas, one week after seeding the first betas and a little over a week after releasing iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 to the public.

Public beta testers who have signed up for Apple's beta testing program can download the iOS and ‌iPadOS 15.1‌ updates over the air after installing the proper certificate from the Public Beta website.

SharePlay makes a return in iOS 15.1, with Apple once again testing the feature that was removed before the launch of iOS 15. SharePlay is designed to let users call their friends and family and interact by watching movies, watching TV, or listening to music together.

Apple has added features like shared playlists and TV show syncing so everyone sees the same thing at the same time. SharePlay also has a built-in screen sharing feature, and Apple is still working out the bugs.

Paired with the HomePod 15.1 beta (which is invite only), iOS 15.1 adds Lossless Audio and Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio support to the HomePod and the HomePod mini, bringing Apple's speakers in line with iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

iPhone users who have a health care provider or state record that uses SMART Health Cards can import their COVID-19 vaccination records into the Health app and can then add a vaccine card to the Wallet app. This is an opt-in feature that uses a global specification, but healthcare providers need to implement it.

Right now, Smart Health Cards are or will be available to those in California, Louisiana, New York, Virginia, Hawaii, and some Maryland counties, as well those who were vaccinated at Walmart, Sam's Club, and CVS Health. Healthcare providers like electronic health record vendors like Epic and Cerner also support Smart Health Cards.

The second beta of iOS 15.1 fixes an Unlock with Apple Watch bug that prevented an authenticated Apple Watch from unlocking an iPhone when the user is wearing a mask. The feature was unable to be toggled on the iPhone 13 Pro, but after the iOS 15.1 update, it is once again functional.

iPhone forum is filled with reports of iOS 15 anomalies. Hope the 15.1 update fixes a few
I've been surprised at how buggy this release was for one that didn't bring a lot of new stuff to the table. Apple must be revamping a lot of code behind the scenes.

I haven't had too many issues myself; my Stocks widget doesn't seem to update as often as it should but I'm not sure if that's a new problem.

Given a modest number of changes, I suspect iOS 15.1 will have 3 or 4 beta cycles for mid-October release.

How is CVS using a SMART health card compatible system and a national chain like Walgreens isn't?

This is not a dig at the Fruit Company, but at Walgreens. We got our 'Rona vax at work and it was done by Walgreens. My medical provider uses Epic for medical records, so my vaccine records show up in my health app after my doctor's office verified it. But Walgreens and Rite Aid need to get on the stick here.

Apple needs to roll out 15.1 to fix the unlock with Apple Watch feature issues with the 13 Pro line. I really miss this feature.

Hopefully, 1 more beta cycle for October 12-14 release date.

Regarding SMART Health Card, Rite Aid supports it. My kid took his jabs there and I was able to generate the code for his phone. Check How to Get a SMART® Health Card section for details. Perhaps your state is among the list?

Well no one reported these bugs I guess if they made it to the final version

I mean, maybe? Even when bugs are reported they are evaluated and prioritized so issues that aren't "critical" might not stop the release.

Unfortunately, Apple's feedback/bugs are not public so there is no way to know if something is reported, analyzed, fixed, released, etc or how many people are interested in it.

I used to report every single bug I found. Apple would get back to me, sometimes it was a dupe of another bug, sometimes they'd ask for more info and I'd provide.

I helped Apple debug a DNS issue a few years ago.

Then, at some point, they just stopped answering bug reports. I take the time to send them with all the necessary information, and... I never hear back anymore. The bugs don't get fixed.

So I've mostly given up bug reporting, except for more egregious serious bugs. And even those.. not a single response back.

So, if someone from Apple is reading this... have some more respect for your beta testers that submit issues. Respond and acknowledge them at least. The silence just makes me not want to bother.

I report every bug, and never hear back, but probably 80% are fixed in the next update.

I don’t care if they get back to me, as long as they listen.

Does iOS 15.0 or 15.1 betas fix the ongoing problem (still with 14.8) with Safari tabs not syncing properly across devices? Given the advertised update to Safari's tab features I would hope so, but no one i've seen has commented.

Edit: Apparently problem was(is?) with Apple's iCloud caching of tabs. A number of people have reported ways to solve it. I tried several and the one I think cleared the problem of multiple "zombie" tabs was at: https://browserhow.com/how-to-fix-safari-tabs-not-syncing-between-devices/.

Problem solved; sorry for off-topic post.

My state is not. The story didn't mention Rite Aid, and so I assumed they did not support it. That error is mine

Turns out after following the link you sent, Express Scripts supports it. I logged into my account and my vaccination record is there. Even though my employer changed prescription plan suppliers in July.

So when the feature filters down to the release, I will have access to it that way.

Thanks for the link, I would not have know about this had you not posted it, so it was a big help.

Typically don't report bugs, but between the inability to the Music or Podcast app on Carplay with my iPhone 13 Pro Max, and my emails not properly sorting on the Mail app, I've been reporting everything I can.

Downloading the beta now... hopefully at least one of those bugs are fixed (preferably the CarPlay bug).
