Apple today provided the second beta of an upcoming macOS Tahoe 26.5 update to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming two weeks after the first beta.

Developers can download the macOS Tahoe 26.5 update by opening up the System Settings app, selecting the General category, and then choosing Software Update. Beta Updates will need to be enabled, and a free developer account is required.

No new features were found in the first macOS Tahoe 26.5 beta, and it's likely the update primarily focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements.

build number is 25F5053d

others:

macOS 15.7.6 RC 2 (24G711)
macOS 14.8.6 RC 2 (23J511)
iOS 26.5 beta 2 (23F5054d) - via ipsw
iOS 26.5 beta 2 (23F5054h) - via ota
iPadOS 26.5 beta 2 (23F5054d) - via ipsw
iPadOS 26.5 beta 2 (23F5054h) - via ota
watchOS 26.5 beta 2 (23T5553h)
visionOS 26.5 beta 2 (23O5453d)
tvOS 26.5 beta 2 (23L5455c)
audioOS 26.5 beta 2 (23L5455c)

there seem to be 2 builds for ios and ipados depending how you install it. ipsw's have d's and ota install has h in the build

btw it seems ipsw's for the ios and ipados d builds have difficuties installing:

it really means they should pull those d ipsw's and make new h ipsw's to replace them. dunno if that has happened yet or even if it will ever happen.

there is also a mythical creature called watchOS 26.5 beta 2 (23T5553d) even though there is no ipsw for watchos!

here’s an even better reason to pull the d versions of the ios and ipados ipsw files:

there have been reports of them even bricking devices.

as well as pulling being advisable, it is irresponsible to keep on making downloads of that version of the ipsw’s available.

so be warned. until and unless apple replace the d ipsw’s with h versions i would say stay well clear of the ipsw’s for now.

So, basically nothing to see here…

And it shows… it has been over 12 hours since this news-headline and this is only the 3rd reply. 😀

What i find hilarious (remember, new to the "ecosystem", might be you're used to this) is the guesswork behind every new patch.

All those "specialised" websites, scores of "expert writers" in them; and yet...
What's changed guys?
Errrrm, yeah? Like, sure, uh huh!
No really, i mean someone must know somewhere; riiight?

Nope.
Let's wait for actual users, see if maybe someone has something to say! Sometime.

Hilarious. For me being an amateur; were i to be using Macs professionally, i may have had a different approach to this 🙂

For anyone who has loaded the Tahoe 26.5 beta, could you please look at the Home application and tell me what the date and time is for that app? I have Tahoe 26.4.1 and the Home app date and time is April 6, 2026 04:10am.

I am having trouble with the Home app only on my new Macbook Neo and am wondering if they have made changes to the Home app. Home app works fine on my iPhone and iPad so I don't think it is the HomePod software that has the problem. HomePod has 26.4.

Thanks in advance.

I have been trying to update for awhile. The download completes then it goes to preparing to install which runs and then fails telling me to check Internet connection, which I have done multiple times and rebooted my access points and network interface. This makes no difference- fails the next time as well. Everything else using the internet is working fine
