I guess so. I had no idea that secondary market prices were falling. Although I think the market is balancing out here too. I'm looking at CL right now and I see one 42 SS BSB for 980 and then there's a 42mm Milanese Loop for 920...

About $900/$1,000 here respectively on DC CL.

What amuses me are those poor bastards who try to get their $1000 margin weeks and sometimes even months after a product launches. You see their listings on eBay, and they just look sad.

Still sky high around me:
~ $600 for Sport
~ $700-750 for SG Sport

If they keep high enough (>$500), I'm going to flip my SG (coming next week or so) and order a Stainless model because I've got nothing but time 8)

It all depends on how long the public interest lasts. The sheer power of Apples money will allow them to make claims of success. But the real test hasn't even begun yet. Apple's money alone can buy lots of attention in the early days. A period that will be extended by Apple enthusiasts and the hoards of Disciples.

Once those core groups have their watches the true test of its viability will begin. That's when we'll know if Apples latest gadget will hold its own or fade into a niche product. Even if it fades into a small portion of sales when compared to stronger items Apple will be sure it gets regular infusions of cash to keep it going.

Apple will save face with the watch at all costs. They're not about to let it fail.

I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed that the apple watch prices on secondary markets like ebay and craigslist has been falling.

My black sports 42mm has just shipped and I was debating selling it for a profit, however if it will only net me less than $100 why bother.

Prices used to be $600-$700 for that watch, and now it's getting into the $500 range.
Within the week or so I bet it will be stably in the $500's, which after ebay fees will net less that $100.

What does everyone else think? Maybe supply is SLOWLY catching up with demand, where as no large profits can be had.

I think that you are just a scalper and hope that the prices will fall below the parity with Apple store

Which market area is this?

I sold a 38mm Sport Aluminium with blue sport band an eBay this week and just broke even. That was fine with me though as i only bought it to play with until my SG showed up. I wasn't aiming for profit though that would have been nice,

I sold my 42mm SGS (arrived on launch day) after wearing it for a short while waiting for my 42mm SS bsb to arrive (4/28) for $700. Paid for my Stainless and I was never without a watch.

I didn't get too greedy and sold each one for about 200 over MSRP.. 5 watches total, all within a week of launch. Same crowd actually lol.. I think people don't see that Ebay is NOT always the best option. After Fee's/shipping and all that bull, you end up walking away with almost the same, maybe a bit more. But not worth the hassle to deal with ebay and Paypal IMO!

Where? I think I might flip mine too. It's being delivered in the next couple of days.

I think I'd rather have the Sport.

Believe me you don't want the sport, I have the SS wsb and Milanese band and blue sport, I feel like my 10 year old niece should have the sport. It may do the same but it's a much different feel and overall experience. You won't regret it but it takes 2 weeks to fall in love

First hand proof

I agree that they are dropping. I got a 42 SG Sport for $500 here in Seattle tonight. If you include our very high sales tax thats only about at $60 premium for the watch. The lowest price I was offered just the day before was $580. I didn't have set plans to buy at a premium but I've been keeping an eye on the market the last few days and just happened to luck my way into this one.

I justified spending the extra money just to keep me from spending too much of my time checking my order and following these boards over the next month or however long my order would have taken.

Keep in mind when you look at craigslist there is almost always a small bit of price haggling no matter what a person says. Ebay is probably a better indicator but you lose a lot with eBay/Paypal fees as a seller.

Prices used to be $600-$700 for that watch, and now it's getting into the $500 range.

So, there's simply oversupply of watches in these secondary markets.

Oversupply in secondary markets? $500? I soooo envy you guys... I wanted to buy one, but here in Poland I find prices like $1000-$1500 for the 42mm Sport model with a rubber band.

Well, I guess I'll have to wait.

I think you better look again. eBay clearly shows better prices than you are stating. Especially for your watch.

Thanks. I did have a try-on session but didn't particularly notice anything cheap looking on the Sport, though I believe I only tried on the Space Gray (which is what I ordered myself). I have been back and forth on the SG; first I thought it looked great in Apple photos, then I started seeing the "Show Off Your Apple Watch" thread with real life pictures and was disappointed. Then in my try-on session I thought it looked great. Sure, I would rather have the SS and sapphire crystal, but not at such a premium for a first generation device.

I guess if prices keep dropping on the secondary market and I can't sell the 42MM SS BSB I am receiving today, I may just open it and try it during the return window.
