Are you secretly super excited about the iPhone 14 and really want one, but won't admit it and constantly explaining others how you’re not going to buy it?

I’m probably more excited than I should be, but I kind of want to upgrade my XR to a 14 Pro Max, since I regretted not getting the XS Max and it’s been a while since I got this phone.

There’s a lot of cool features I will be getting from the past three phones I’ve missed (5G, ProMotion, MagSafe, Night Shot, Cinematic Mode, etc).

I already have a MagSafe charging stand. Just need a phone to go with it. Definitely looking forward to the event.

I'm excited
- to see how much the 13 mini price will drop where I am
- to see the new pricing of the 14 lineup
- to see how accurate are the rumors, especially Apple sticking an A15 on the regular 14

I am excited that my iPhone 11 Pro Max will be fully paid off in March 2023. I am further excited that I'm going to be removing carrier insurance and AC+ after 1.6 years, which will reduce my phone bill by around $60.

I will be excited to hear about the iPhone 17 and get that when the iPhone 18 launches. 'Cause that's around the next time I'll be upgrading.

I'm excited to think that I'm about ready to start doing my research on upgrading my 6th Gen iPad - most likely with a model that's about one to two years out of date.

I am not excited to consider what might happen with a 5G iPhone in an area where my carrier probably has bad 5G service. But I wouldn't know because I'm happily on LTE right now. When I upgrade 5G will be a mature network by then and I will have avoided being another carrier rollout guinea pig - which I am excited about.

So no. Not secretly excited about the 14 at all.

Honestly, I had no plans to get a new phone. But the wife's XR is on the fritz and she doesn't care about the latest/greatest, so I'll give her my 13 pro and decide whether I want to go 14 pro max or 14 pro. Definitely getting excited :)

My wife is going to make it easy on me the next time around. She's been gravitating to Samsung phones lately so that'll likely be her next upgrade (whatever model is current then).

We were both on the Google Pixel 3a XL for a year and she's still using that as her secondary phone (mine is my old 6s+ which was my primary before the Pixel).

I imagine the 11PM she uses now would become her secondary phone whenever we upgrade her. But a Samsung will be cheaper.

Not particularly excited. I only care about battery life at this point--if they can give us a phone that lasts considerably longer than the 13 PM, then I may bite.

I’m secretly excited for Samsung’s new ad making fun of the hole punch camera with a haircut. Remember how they had the notch haircut commercial. They can cut one with a bald spot and make that the hole punch 😂😂

You do know that a 5G iPhone has full LTE capabilities, right? If no 5G in an area it just goes to 4G

Yep. And I've been there before. Not interested in being there again.

I have a Sprint iPhone 5. Got it in 2012. Fully LTE capable. First LTE on Sprint arrived in my area in late 2014. So for two years I was Sprint's sub-par 3G - with an LTE phone. I upgraded to the 6+ in February 2015 so I saw maybe six months total of LTE on the 5.

Assuming T-Mobile has no decent 5G in my area, I'm paying for a 5G phone and getting - LTE. Oh yes, travel of course, only we don't travel. It's very rare to go anywhere farther than 30 mins from home. And I'm not interested in my phone trying to hang on to bad 5G signal (like my 5 did to bad LTE signal) and then having to force LTE.

I'm much more comfortable paying a smaller amount per month for an LTE only phone and not having to deal with any of that. Because in the back of my mind I would not be getting what I paid for - which would be 5G on a 5G phone.

Of course, the opposite could be true and I could be in a great 5G area. That would be fine - if I trusted T-Mobile's word, which I don't, because I've been with them for seven years now and they are a lot like Sprint in some ways.
