i usually partition up my 1TB drivers into say 4 partitions, 1 for sys/apps, 1 for data, etc..

how do i password protect the partitions that don't have a system/boot on them?

OSX (using SL, not Lion) only allows for password protected login on the boot partition, so how about the other partitions? as they automatically mount!

    -- any advice appreciated

I have not used this myself, but I know people who use TrueCrypt.
