Have to attend a teleconference via Zoom, and was wondering if there were any major security issues out there that Mac users need to be concerned about at this time. I've read to stay away form the app, and use the web browser only, but didn't know if even that was completely safe.

Zooms had a shady history but theyve revised their terms and conditions recently. However, if you just want to be cautious id suggest you dont sign in from your facebook to prevent them from collecting that data and use a firewall to block any tracker connections. Cheers!

I guess I was more concerned in regards to any potential residual spyware or malware issues after last year's debacle with the cameraphone hack (which Apple had to fix). I realize that involved the app itself, but was as before, was curious if we were exposing to ourselves to potential headaches even if we only used the web browser.

Most “hacks” are do to poor passwords, using the same exact ID to join and allowing others to join into a meeting after it has been running! If you watched the video I linked it’s out in whole video if you paid attention!

I'm not aware of any substantial Zoom security issues. The majority of issues or "hacks" were simply lax security settings, allowing anybody to join, and allowing folks to share audio or video that they could then use to broadcast something vulgar or offensive. Pretty good list of concerns that is being updated here.

Thanks for posting that link but even after reading it, at least at the present time, I'm still not comfortable using Zoom. There seem to be too many places to go wrong; do this don't do that...and it will be fine.
