I am entering College in the fall and I was wondering what would you recommend to secure my 15" PB to prevent theft. PLease include your experiences if possible.

There is not much to elaborate on, lol... :D

I used a Kensington cable lock and I never had any issues with it. It attaches to the lock port on the side of the computer. Are you looking for anything more elaborate? I'd say just find whatever color you like and the best price is about the best advice to give. Cuz I think these locks are sorta like bike locks in the sense that very few of them will stop a super-dedicated thief. They can be cut with bolt cutters, but they're perfect for warding off casual thieves....

I think a Kensington cable is your only real option, like mkrishnan said, it's not going to stop someone determined to steal your Powerbook but should deter most.

The best option is probably the MicroSaver® Guaranteed Notebook Replacement which gives you up to $1500 theft insurance, not bad for a $55 cable.

Just read the warranty details carefully. Basically the thief needs to somehow cut the cable to be covered, if you attached it to a desk that they can dismantle or break to steal the computer you're not covered.

You probably won't end up using it a whole lot becuae you'll find it annoying after a while. But i have the Targus lock. 6.5 feet of cable and it comes with mounting brackets if you want to use them. It works like a charm and i got it brand new off ebay for 10$ where as it sells for 30$ in a store.
