When I went to play back a recording on the Voice Recorder App I got the following message.....

On going to "Remove all Viruses" Ot take you to an App supposedly in the App Store.

Is this some sort of scam???

That is a website page scam. You don’t have 42 viruses.

It is 100% a scareware tactic.

My colleague was on her MacBook Air today using Duck Duck Go web browser when a pop up appeared and a feminine voice telling her that security had been breached and not to shut down her Mac. She shut it down anyway. Pretty sure she’s safe because she didn’t click on anything in the web browser...

Thanks folks, I didn't do anything but how did it get into my phone?
I deleted the Voice Recorder app and the days cache and did a hard reset so hopefully gone.
Guess I can now re load the Voice Recorder.......

Can you share an App Store link to the specific app this happened in? Sounds like it might be a free app that delivers ads.

Judging by user reviews the app does indeed show fullscreen ads, so the scam you saw was likely delivered as an ad. Not necessarily the developer's fault, but I'd still rather use an app that doesn't have these issues (like Apple's own Voice Memo).
