wait so nobody answered this yet, but is 4.0 vunerable? Or is it just 3.x. Also for those that are wondering even if you don't use rss ur vulnerable so even trusted rss is bad.

Well, one would hope this recently added feature (see picture) would help defend us until the hole is patched.

Let's see now. You joined MacRumors just this month and are already trolling away. So why are you here anyway? Are you a Mac user? A Windows fanboy?

just because i joined this month it doesn't mean im a "newbie" or MS fanboy or anything YOU might think of. Macrumors refused to let me sign with my email adress....... but i couldn't stand to see ppl posting things like, "i don't care what the new iphone would be like, i'll buy it anyway".... in fact, im reading macrumors for quite a while.......

....anyway, everyone must make a decision on which browser he uses. safari is lacking in too many features to me. No properly working add block would be the first to mention.

But i'm not suprised about your answer. Most ppl here think that their opinion, and apple products as well, are superior to any other just because that's the way it is....... Just because i said that apple is going over the top by saying that safari is the world's best browser you are quetioning why i registered??? poor you....

edit:
OH, i forgot something: my signature sucks, it should say: Macbook 2,1ghz, 4gb ram, iphone, iphone 3G, ipod touch 8 GB (first GEN) ipod touch 16 gb(first GEN) ipod shuffle 1gb, broken down ipod touch 32gb (2nd GEN) t.b.c......yay! in other words, i own a mac:eek:

**** I knew the latest security update was the cause for my macbook acting strange and now being completely lost. Needs new motherboard and hard drive, oh hell yeah that is nice apple why don't you start making more reliable products.

And today's award for the most tenuous link goes to...

I have read about this vulnerability today and wonder if the malicious code might actually be looking at autofill data IN Safari?

As a very basic security Never Let ANY browser store autofill data!

Does Safari hold the autofill data local or point to other apps like Address Book Mail and iCal?

I do use the RSS feature in Safari but ONLY for subscribed links.
All un-soliticted email just junked unread and TURN autofill OFF I Say.

How would you be able to get a key logger installed (Its an APP) via email without downloading and installing something (Perhaps those cheapo software rip off companies -Have been known to put malicious payload -But thats a standard -Trojan Horse type infection isn't it? Suffice to Say buy dubious software at your peril!

Let me get this straight:

If Microsoft suffers from a security issue is because they only make bad products and are mediocre.

If Apple suffers from a security issue is because there's no perfect software and anyone could find a hole in any application if they looked deep enough.

And, by the way, although I use routinely Firefox, statistics show that IE is not more unsafe than Firefox or Safari. And something that statistics also show: Apple takes forever to respond to vulnerabilities unlike Firefox or Microsoft. So don't expect an update today.

I love Mac computers, but please, it's not a member of your family you are talking about, it's a company that makes money selling things. The more we complain, the better the chances we'll have to receive higher quality products.

Let me get this straight:

If Microsoft constantly suffers from hundreds of security issues, it is because they only make bad products and are mediocre.

If Apple suffers from a handful of security issues is because there's no perfect software and anyone could find a hole in any application if they looked deep enough.

Fixed that for you.

And, by the way, although I use routinely Firefox, statistics show that IE is not more unsafe than Firefox or Safari.

You're right, the problem isn't IE itself, it is that MS writes IE to have pretty much open and trusted access to much more of the OS than Firefox, Safari, Opera or any other browser.

I love Mac computers, but please, it's not a member of your family you are talking about, it's a company that makes money selling things. The more we complain, the better the chances we'll have to receive higher quality products.

Agreed.

I hope everyone noticed that the original page has been updated, apparently it is not enough to just change the RSS reader.

A few details would be great. As in I just discovered a really dangerous security vulnerability in the Finder. Basically no user of Mac OS is safe. Not for any version. Unfortunately I cannot reveal any details right now so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Think about it: the solution turns to not be a solution. Therefore there is no benefit in telling anybody anything. Therefore the only reason to reveal at this impasse is to get attention.
