In (or for) 10.4, is there any utility which allows me to see what has been installed on my computer lately (e.g., a log of programs, possible spyware, etc.)?

You can go into system profiler to see what programs are installed

also there is a list of logs in system profiler as well.

There is no known spyware at this time for OS X
