We are talking a one line email summary for a feature that is just now in beta. before we jump to skynet lets just give it a shot.

I like that apple int. are small targeted features throughout the system (like math notes) and not some generic chatbot friend.
Hallucinations are not an issue that is specific to Apple Intelligence, this is something that is an issue for all Large Language Models, to varying degrees.

I'm including a wikipedia link on the subject, if you want to dive deeper into it:

It makes a smart phone actually SMART. The iPhone is currently not a smart device in regards to its brain power.

I dunno about that...

Recently, I did a search for "mushroom" using Photos on my iPhone 13-mini, and I got 700+ hits (in-the-field basidiomycetes shots, as well as my 'shroom-laden-pasta-creations).

On my '23 Studio Max in Sonoma, I get zero results from the same search in Photos 🤷‍♂️

I was expecting at-least parity . . . .

I find AI stuff totally 100% pointless at this time. Maybe one day it'll be actually useful, but who knows. For now what's funny is stuff I've seen like a senders AI generated email being summarized by the receivers AI who then uses AI to generate an email response and ridiculous other AI loops like that.

I see AI generated stuff and capabilities as just another way to remove people from being in touch with others, their own creativity, and therefore themselves. It's detachment technology. And don't give me this nonsense about "professional" prompters and whatnot.

There are AI generated prompt tools now which generate prompts to pass to AI generators to generate images, music, text, and video. Laughable, just laughable. AI feeding AI while we basically sit back in the audience and watch.

It seems to me that technology while helpful and even essential in many facets of today's life, AI has a serious risk of reducing talent, knowledge, and creativity in humanity. Everything feels too transactional to me. Don't remember something? You don't need to, just search online. Transactional memory.

One day, soon probably, we'll be able to prompt something like Netflix to generate a complete movie and alter it in real time, "Make her prettier." "Make it snowing here." "This needs more action, add in a car chase." Genflix maybe? AIflix?

People are already generating novels with AI. I've decided to no longer read any fiction published after 2024, and not assume that anything I see, hear, watch, or read was made by a human or at least untainted by AI. I don't assume any photo or any voice recording is actually in any way real anymore. The youtube series Two Minute Papers altered how I see the world these days. It's like we're not in the simulation, we're' just building it around us piece by piece until we're walled off from reality, or at least trusting and knowing what reality is.
If you're a programmer, you might feel differently. Drop 800 lines of SQL into Copilot, ask it describe what it is doing, suggest more efficient alternatives, and to add comments. It's not perfect, but it saves all kinds of time.

That doesn't make a smartphone smart.

Being able to take an entire 18 page paper and fix grammatical errors in a matter of seconds makes a device smart.

Genuine human interaction will be a thing of the past. It’s going to be simpler in a not positive way for human interaction. (edit font)

Yeah, yeah....BIG deal...GREAT news......if you live in the US!! The rest of the world can forget it! Not only may, the rest of the world, pay 20-30% MORE for apple products, but all the (software goodies, like now in AI) are US only!!! I stuffed my house filled with Apple. Im up to my eyeballs sucked intoo the apple system. But we had to wait SEVEN years for a Dutch speaking siri, and still she is a lot of time's deaf and blind. The "camera not found" or "cant connect to your lights" is still nerve wrecking.
Now, i wanted the apple vision. REALLY bad. I was even willing to take a weekend trip to New York to get one!! But even THAT was US only!! When you need subscription lenses, apple arranged it so you cant buy THOSE in the store! No, you have to order them!! And they will ONLY send them to a US adress!! So even if you CAN get a hold of the vision pro, it will be useless when you have prescription lenses!
I am really getting fat up with that!! Now the vision pro finally arrived in Germany. 4900.-!!!! Because one batterie wont last a whole film, but even then......NO lenses!!

The starting price of the Vision Pro in Germany (before VAT) is around 3,360 euros which is around $3,600 USD or only slightly more than the $3,499 pre-sales tax price starting price in the U.S. You need to remember that advertised prices in Europe typically (always?) include VAT while prices in the U.S. don't include sales tax. Also, you can't blame Apple for the high VAT or other sales taxes charged in Europe and elsewhere.

If you have issues with products from a U.S.-based company, you should instead start buying products from European companies that may cater more to that market. If that's not an option, complain that there are no companies in Europe that offer products that meet your needs instead of complaining about and relying so much on U.S. companies to do so.

Is there anybody out there who is completely disinterest in anything relates to AI?

Just cannot seem to get my head around why? its seems great on the surface, but to me its adding layers of complexity to things that are pretty simple to achieve with your own intelligence.
Well, for one thing it would certainly improve the spelling and grammar of your post. That being said, I find the most useful cases for AI seem to be similar to the situation of using a screwdriver versus using a cordless drill/driver. It's just another tool in your toolbox that can be used to improve efficiency.

Take the rapidly growing use case for AI in Radiology. Radiologists are getting burned out more and more quickly because CT scans and such are becoming so much more popular, with more and more data to look at in each scan. Imagine you're looking at 100 scans a day trying to find lung tumors. The more scans you have to look at, the higher the likelihood you're going to miss something. Now imagine an AI app can run along side you and highlight possible lung tumors. With a quick confirmation you can look at the AI result and say, "yup that looks like a lung tumor" or "nope" and move on.

"Siri has a new design with a glow around the edges of the display when active..."
That's the dealbreaker for me.
Agree to disagree, but I think it's one of the better designs for Siri since its inception

Don't get me wrong, it's nice now that the background doesn't blur when Siri is active, but if you have some text that you need to see that happens to be right below it, the orb is still kind of intrusive in that way

If Apple is selling Vision Pro in Germany, I find it hard to believe that you can’t order lenses to be delivered in Germany. Have you checked recently?

Yes, the battery will only power the VP for 2 hours, you can plug it in to a USB-C port and run it for a long as you want it.

As for AI, I’m sure that Apple has plans to extend the language and locale support once they get the basics working. It’s still in its infancy right now so it’s not surprising that there are limits still. LLMs are very good at handling different languages so it may be easier for Apple to add more language support with Apple Intelligence than in their previous systems where so much had to be hand localized. Siri should also become more flexible and reliable once the full AI version is released. It is frustrating waiting for that.

Not that bothered about it to be honest, certainly the way they are sticking it in everything.
I do like some of the AI stuff in capcut, it can be useful, not that I use capcut that often, prefer da Vinci resolve

I certainly would not use AI as a search engine, I use Duck duck go, and it does what I need.

It's beta and a developing feature. Give it a few years to mature. AI will make life easier and also make us dumber.
Is that possible for some people? More people seem to be dumb now, certainly the younger generation. Makes me wonder how they can tie their laces up.

Just the improvements to Siri alone makes me 100% disagree with you. I use AI every single day at work and it's increased my productivity nearly 5 fold already, specifically with ChatGPT.
You trust ChatGPT that much? I don't think I would.

You get to vote your EU reps, we in the US don't...

Europeans seem to think (even more so than Americans) that actions don't have consequences, that they can throw up endless regulations and insults agains tech companies without that affecting how those tech companies prioritize Europe (or even bother to ship there), that larping on Twitter, on the media, and in the EU Parliament won't affect what's sold in the shops.

Like I said, you can vote these people out, we can't.
Or you can vote for even more of this agenda of supporting old tech, suppressing new tech, and demonizing everything that represents a future different from the present.
Your choice.

We don't in the U.K. as we are not in the E.U, and people in the E.U don't really vote for their E.U reps, they vote for M.E.Ps, the real heart of the E.U are unelected Eurocrats. Also, don't forget that many countries in Europe are not in the E.U

It is strange that the U.K get a lot of the features that other countries don't, I wonder if it is to do with us speaking English, so easier to do.
