I have a dashboard widget that does those plus more hashes. It doesn't seem to have a name, but mentions the web site http://www.eosgarden.com/ which is currently under construction.
OpenSSL command line The "md5" command is a part of the OpenSSL programs, which also includes support for SHA-1 (as well as lots of other things). The command to calculate SHA-1 is: Multiple filenames can be provided (separated by spaces). You can either type in your filename or simply drag-and-drop it/them from the Finder onto the Terminal window. Change the "sha1" to "md5" to calculate that.

Thanks all. They help to some extend. But not exactly the widget I used before. But thank you all the same.
I did a search for "md5 widget" and came up with this... http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/networking_security/md5lookupwidget.html ...but that's probably too easy? http://www.google.com/search?q=md5+...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
The Hash Widget is available again from the eosgarden website: http://www.eosgarden.com/en/freeware/hash-widget/ Enjoy : )
