I ruined my 2012 rMBP a few days ago and have been getting some work done on my 10.5 iPP while I’ve been looking for a laptop replacement. I finally decided to stay with Apple and was set to order a new 2019 13” MBP spec’d with 2.4GHz, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD—$2399 plus state sales tax.
I now see online at the Apple Store a 2018 refurb with the same specs as far as I can tell, except for the insignificant difference of a 2.3GHz processor instead of the bumped up 2.4GHz. The price, though, is $1999.
I think the only difference between the two is that the keyboard is updated on the 2019 and now the 2018 will have only three years of free keyboard repairs, if I understand that right.
I could get either, but $400 is quite a large difference. Ordinarily, I’d take the refurb and put the $400 to something else, but my concern is the keyboard. And, of course, there may be something else I’m not considering.
So . . . what do you think?
