I'm a soon to be convert and my siblings have already beaten me to it. I'm the kind that has always built my own towers from a bare case and power supply up, but, uncommon for me, bought Vista as soon as it came out and I've finally had it. On a day that I was extremely ticked off at yet another format and reinstall to fix Vista, I looked at what the three thousand bucks I spent to build my latest computer could've purchased at the apple store. Low and behold I could have gotten a Mac Pro with more memory and more processors.

I told my brother about it and when his Dell quit on him, he looked and also had the same reaction-he could buy his 24" iMac for less than what he bought his Dell for through a friend with a corporate discount. He's been nothing but happy with it and a few days ago he and I bought our sister a 27" iMac that she's absolutely in love with.

I'd have purchased a Mac Pro by now, but I'm holding out until the new ones are released in a few months. Also, being in grad school now, I'm finally thinking about biting the bullet and getting a laptop. Just never had a use for one in the last 18 or 19 years and never saw the need to spend the money on one.

When Fall semester began I decided to retire my Samsung BlackJack phone and get an iPhone. Admittedly, I'd wanted one forever, just never wanted to spend the money for one and thought I would in August. Been saying it since I purchased it and still saying-best phone ever.

Some old video games may make me run XP in boot camp, but can't wait for the new machine. Looking at the Nvidia 285 graphics card to stuff into the upcoming (presumably) 12 core Mac Pro. Hurry up Apple! :D

You spent 3K on a custom built PC that could be whooped by a Mac Pro?

HOW?

I was the same but slowly but surely, i've inadvertently influenced 7 people to switch and even get iPods & iPhones...including my family. My sister (the last holdout) is even planning to get an iPhone soon.

Been a mac user since I was 6, whole family has been stRted off with a 6000 macintosh parents got us for Christmas that lasted to the iBook then MacBook MacBook pro and now iMac 27 inch. All along the way I've bought every iPod until I found the love of my life the iPhone no need for iPods now although I'm still tempted to get the touch or the shuffle for when working out

O and along the way I've converted heavy pc users into mac users as well I think I stand at 8 converts

We switched a couple of years ago. Got a Macbook for myself, then gave that to my son when I got a newer one for work. Then an iMac for the main home system. Wife is still not liking it, but it's more a user issue; she b!@#h about the DELL we used to have, so it's not the system(s} :)

Haven't had to "reload" anything, or experience ANY slowdowns since owning it. Best choice I've ever made...

Wow! You sure knew how to get yourself a nice first Mac. :) Congrats on your new iMac i7! Hope you're enjoying it.

Thanks - the 27 inch iMac is a fantastic deal hardware wise and it really is an impressive machine. I am glad I made the purchase, I was not in the market for a desktop but decided I would move away from using a laptop at home and go back to using a desktop because I was so impressed with the iMac.

About the only thing I think it is missing is blu-ray support but I have a PS3 which is enough for me.

I replace desktops about every 10 years so I get a lot of mileage out them and going for the top of the line ensures that I wont need to replace it for a while. I would like to start pushing the machine to see what it is truly capable of - but so far I am really liking my Apple experience.

And yes, buying ipods and eventually an iphone eventually got me to purchase a computer and I will definitely be buying more in the future. I think Apple is going to be increasing in popularity for quite some time because so many people have been introduced to them through other products and it is almost a natural progression to move onto their computing platform.

Again, I love tech so I have always been curious about them and have been a member of macrumors since 2004 so I have been following their hardware/software for a long time.

I've recently made the switch( oct). So I don't feel like I belong to the original apple family. However I'm 21 and when iPod first came out always wanted one but never was able to get one. Then my sister got the touch and I fell in love with it got one for myself( first apple product) and that was my transformation. After that I got the iPhone 3g then the mbp then upgraded to 3gs.

I'm one of those people who is extremely annoyed with Microsoft but dont completely hate it..

I just wanted to go to a company where "it just works". I welcome new people as I hope I am welcomed.

I also got my family to make the switch to iPhones

I switched to Mac in August 2007 when everybody in my dorm who was planing to buy a computer only talked about Windows, on getting a PC.
Now in 2009 I noticed a shift in this tendency, now everybody wants to get a Mac, and when I open my computer and connect it to the dorm wireless internet, I see many Macs computers on my finder under Shared section. before I could see none.
