Maybe this will be of at least academic interest to someone -- Mirabilis Design seems to have written softcores for the Xilinx Virtex 5 FPGA that emulate from a 750 to an 8641D, with an 8548 thrown in for goot measure. Or maybe they,'re just lying. I don't really know for sure.
