Again, the rubber inside won't do a thing to protect the screen if the iPhone falls to the ground face down. The only thing that kinda protects the screen in cases is when a case has the front slightly raised, so that if the iPhone falls face down the screen never actually touches the ground.

Thats what i meant by rubber lip..

I am pretty sure that this is exactly what he was tring to say. The Speck Candyshell has a rubber lip that does come up above the screen to provide a "lay on the table" protection. So in theory, it should protect the screen better.

And to the OP, yes, this is a better case for shock protection than the Innocase. I have both. However, if you really want to protect the phone from all kinds of drops, do as someone else recommended and take a look at the OtterBox Defender. I have this as well and it quickly became my go to case for going to the gym, working in the yard or on the house etc...you really would be hard pressed to find better protection.

Thx,
I'll check out the defender.

If you read my previous post I'll see that I was referring to when the OP said the case had a rubber inside, not when he said it had a rubber lib.

Sidewinder -

I can count at least 3-4 pressure point on that cracked glass

what is the real story

looks like i took it to a shooting range but it was dropped waist height on to the floor.. No point in fibbing here.

sorry to hear and see that terrible pic of your phone :( but yea..case is only for scratch and pressure protection and minor fall a case can cover should like fall from within 3~5 inches height actually, which means if it's falling from higher than that it's all depended on luck..

shield and case brands are advertising with strong protection and stuffs but nah, that's only the ad to tempt customers, it is not possible to get shock resistance shield or case from those brands if you think back what you have heard from your physics teacher..
even our feet still feel minor shock of hitting the ground with air jordan right?:p
sorry again about your phone :( hope you get it fixed soon

I actually dropped my 3gs above waist height more than 2 times and it is still working fine.

I'm 5'10".

my friend left his cell phone on the top of his car

he drove away and then heard something fall
Drove back to get it... and ran over it

and it still didn't look as bad as this "fall from waist height" inside a case story you want us to believe

I enjoyed hearing about your friend. Thx for your helpful input..

Op i dont agree with you, these kind of cases will never protect your screen, neither will a screen "protector" (only against scratches) if you want overall drop protection you need a pouch case like the incase folio or the marware ceo..

SchneiderMan,
Don't you mean that you agree with me then?? I said you shouldn't trust that combination and essentially thats what you are saying.. Am i missing something?

As far as the Mareware Ceo (Premiere), I'm currently using that in conjunction with a switcheasy colors case. It does provide extra protection but the problem with thees cases is you can't use the phone inside them, so if your getting out of your car and forget your phone was on your lap...

Soon I'm going to get my hands on a Tech21 Iband Hardcase. This case is specifically designed for drop protection and I intend on doing a video review once I get it.

Yes but still, that iband will not protect your screen at all, if your phone falls on a non flat surface your back and front will be very exposed..
It also depends on the person, some people can have no cases at all and they probably never dropped their phone once like me but i still use a case against scratches..

Incorrect SchneiderMan,
The back is completely covered by the case. While the front is exposed like many cases it has enough of a lip to protect the screen in most incidences.

In the video below they drop the original iband off a balcony and it lands on a jagged and rocky stone surface face down.. Thats pretty extreme and uneven.

I'm pretty sure that this case protects the phone from more than just scratches which is why I'm excited to get my hands on it.
