Select Default Output Connection on 4870?

I have a Mac Pro with 4870

Display port = 40" second display with DVI Adapter 1920x1080

DVI = 30" Samsung 2560x1600 (requires Dual Link DVI)

at the moment when booting the Display port, is the default screen at bootup with apple logo spinning wheel etc

when i'm at the desktop the 30" screen is the main screen which how i want it.

is there a way of setting the computer to display the bootup screen on the correct display (DVI) as the second display is not always on.

i dont really want to spend extra Cash on a Dual link Display port adapter.
