Hi forums, I'm a designer that works on a daily basis with Adobe InDesign and I am having a very frustrating issue while working with image boxes and the Direct Selection Tool. You can see that I've marked up the images/screenshots that exemplify the problem. After working in the program for a while and it working correctly, the Direct Selection Tool reverts to a strange box, varying in color and sometimes looking like a bar code or like a text link box. I'm unable to select the PDFs in a way to resize the boxes. I can move them, just not resize them. I'm also getting black lines showing up across the screen. Hopefully this is clear from looking at the pics attached. I'm working on a 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. Surely I'm not the only one and I'm unsure if it's an Apple issue or an Adobe issue, but it's making it impossible for me to work.

Is that possible if it's only happening in InDesign with the Selection Tool? I've had no other graphics issues/glitches at all. I was thinking that perhaps it's an Adobe or High Sierra issue.
I'm sure it could be one or both of those... it just looks like a hardware issue to me. Then again, InDesign is often known to be the buggiest of the main apps they offer, so it could be old(er) InDesign w/newer OS version issues.

Obviously the next High Sierra beta update will shed light on that theory. Hopefully it will be fixed and you can chalk it up to beta software.

It's a High Sierra's bug, not a hardware issue.
It happened here and was ok after a simple restart.
Sometimes InDesign isn't recognizing the GPU.

High Sierra/InDesign bug, same problem happens to me intermittently. Surprisingly obnoxious. New iMac, noticed only after HSierra beta, up-to-date InDesign. I chalked it up to poor support for hardware that's only been out a month and a half, but likely not if others are having the same issue on the betas.

[doublepost=1503826228][/doublepost]I have EXACTLY the same issue and it's a total pain. I quite ID and then 10 minutes later it's back.

I can restart my mac and it makes no difference.

Looks to still be an issue in Beta 7 as well. This is becoming a bit torturous.

New update today - it fixed the videos playing in Facebook and also the sound issues in YouTube but it hasn't fixed the InDesign problem.

I am quitting and restarting ID about 20 times a day now.

I highly doubt this is a HSierra issue and not an adobe interaction with HSierra issue, considering it’s one app across an entire platform. I don’t think any public beta update will fix this. Maybe adobe won’t take months to fix. Usually pretty lazy team though.

I spoke too soon!

I updated High Sierra and it worked for an hour then back to its old tricks.

I am quitting ID 30 times a day or more right now, it's such a pain in the arse.

No ID Beta update by the looks of it.

Does the issue occur on both integrated and discrete graphics? I've been having major issues with graphics performance and glitches, especially on integrated.

Don't know if this is a fix just yet (will try), but found this solution on another thread by an admin:

Hi,
Yes we are aware of this issue with MAC OS 10.13.
As a workaround you can either
1. Turn of GPU performance from the preference setting
2. Revert back to OS 10.12.5 (recommended)
Please let me know if you are not on OS 10.12 or if the workarounds do not work for you.

unfortunatelly I noticed this issue when I first downloaded High Sierra beta software, since then I tryed everything, display card, only indesign loaded, extensions off... the only thing that worked for me was to revert to Sierra, today I installed High Sierra (no beta) and the issue apeared again... Sadly I will have to return to old Sierra 10.12, for now I think is the only solution... hope Apple and Adobe soon fix this

Still not fixed... also not in Indesign CC 2018 GM. I hope Adobe will bring an update soon.

I'm having the same issue as well. Makes me believe that the problem lies with CC.
