Hi forums, I'm a designer that works on a daily basis with Adobe InDesign and I am having a very frustrating issue while working with image boxes and the Direct Selection Tool. You can see that I've marked up the images/screenshots that exemplify the problem. After working in the program for a while and it working correctly, the Direct Selection Tool reverts to a strange box, varying in color and sometimes looking like a bar code or like a text link box. I'm unable to select the PDFs in a way to resize the boxes. I can move them, just not resize them. I'm also getting black lines showing up across the screen. Hopefully this is clear from looking at the pics attached. I'm working on a 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. Surely I'm not the only one and I'm unsure if it's an Apple issue or an Adobe issue, but it's making it impossible for me to work.

I'm having the identical issue. I highly doubt it's my graphics card. It's only InDesign, and it's only since I upgraded to High Sierra two nights ago. Sorry nothing useful to add, hopefully one of us can figure a solution.

I haven't had any issues at all with High Sierra (beta or shipping version) and InDesign on any of my Macs. But then I noticed something... MY Macs are all older Retina Macs, not the newer 4K and 5K iMacs.

I would be curious if this is the case for everyone having this problem.

I have the last 21 iMac just before they went 4K and I’m having the problem.

Not solved here. Have MacOs beta 10.13.1 and the issue is still there.
Working on a MacBook Air, 1.7Ghz Intel Core I7 and 8 GB RAM.
So, will go back to Indesign CS6

Thanks man, I suppose will have to wait for an update from Adobe. I downgrade to Sierra 10.12.6, so far so good

There is an announcement in Adobe Forums

ANNOUNCEMENT:Known Issue with InDesign and High Sierra
by BobLevine (September 27, 2017)

There is a known issue with InDesign and High Sierra 10.13.0 that causes display corruption in cursors. Restarting InDesign will fix the issue temporarily but it will likely reappear.

Adobe is working with Apple to get it fixed.

It looks like there's more than a simple bug in macOS 10.13. There is politics too and some Apple vs. Adobe rivalry.

Anyway, just don't blame Adobe for this, otherwise some people from its entourage will call you names on the company's forums and/or Facebook.

Apple has just release a supplemental update to High Sierra. Updating now should cure what ails you.

Holy Apple apologist Batman!

I wonder if anything is Apple's fault according to you.

I highly doubt this is a HSierra issue and not an adobe interaction with HSierra issue, considering it’s one app across an entire platform. I don’t think any public beta update will fix this. Maybe adobe won’t take months to fix. Usually pretty lazy team though.
