I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but I've been unsuccessful using the search function to find my answer. I'm buying a new 13" MBP in the next couple days, and I'd like to transfer some applications and files from my current MBP but not the entire hard drive contents. I've got a lot of junk on my current laptop and would like to start with a semi-fresh machine.

Does Migration Assistant allow you to pick/choose what you want to transfer onto the new machine? Alternatively, could I just drag/drop files from a TM or SuperDuper backup on an external drive (for instance, will MS Office work on the new machine after this process)?

Thanks for the help.

It is selective in a general sense, meaning you can't be picky about individual files and programs. Just copy everything over and delete once it is copied. Thats the safest bet anyway.
