I want to use regular text to some people instead of using imessage. Is there a way to selectively disable imessage by users. I like the GV SMS App but when imessage takes over my native number gets sent.

Did you not see maturolas post?

I think he missed it

OK let me try again since maybe the OP missed my first post

BiteSMS can do what you want, you pick what method of SMS you want to use, and change the settings of "Overwrite send method" to "per contact" this way every time you text that "contact" it will do it with the method you picked.

You can even overwrite on the fly if you ever change your mind by holding down the "send" button.

How do you do it?

Go to Settings on BiteSMS...

Locate this screen..

Change "Overwrite send method" from "none" to "Contacts"

Go to the contact and hold the "send" button..until you get to the method you want for that user.. Blue is iMessage, Green is Carrier SMS, Pink is BiteSMS credits.

But then you have to use bitesms as your messaging client right? Or does it take over your native client?

Does bitesms work with Google Voice.? I really like the GV Extension and it works very well, except the fact that I have to enable and disable the GV SMS extension everytime. Its a simple tweak I think so.

Does this only work for OUTGOING texts or for INCOMING as well?

For example I followed the above instructions and changed one of my iPhone contacts from Blue (iMessage) to Green (regular). When that person sends me a text....will it now show up as a regular text message from them?

Oh thanks!

Bitesms didn't work for me; I like SMS Gv extension and that works well except when the person is iMessage it sends with my AT&T number and not the Gv number.

If I disable iMessage totally then the SMS app sends it with the Gv number
