RAM is soldered in, so not possible (without a soldering station, and source for correct replacement chips)

everything is soldered and glued, typical Apple dirty trick when 16GB DDR4 is about $60 they charging few times more

Sadly, It's been this way since 2012. You know because all the pre 2012 rMBP's ram modules would just randomly get loose and cause the sockets to fail causing Apple major headaches and costs in returns and warranty work. /s

Theoretically possible with some very good solder rework equipment, but at that point you'll probably be beyond $400, and your warranty will be long gone.

Pony up. Or don't buy Apple.

This new 16" is great. 64Gb and 8 CPUs finally keeps the fan quiet even when running virtual machines.

Actually you could buy my old 17" MBP which has expandable memory. That was one of the last machines they made with replaceable RAM - and SSD for that matter.

Quoting because this is awesome.

Video seems legit. So I imagine you could take to a third party shop if you're inclined and didn't care about warranty.

The Fake News rumor mill strikes again.

You can, and absolutely should, do this yourself.

Edit: The good part starts around 45 seconds in.

Bonkers. No way anyone should be doing that without alot of electronics experience and willing to sacrifice their machine and warranty.

Like others said the RAM is soldered and can't be upgraded. However when there is no more RAM available,
your computer will drain some resources from the SSD to create extra virtual memory - but this will be considerably slower than just using RAM.
