Apple last week shared a new video that showcases selfies taken with Portrait Lighting effects on the iPhone X, kickstarting the company's new "Selfies on iPhone X" ad campaign across different forms of media.

Next up in the campaign is a video promoting the annual Carnival of Brazil, a weeklong celebration of music, dance, food, and drink, with particularly large festivals in cities like Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The ad, accompanied by a webpage, highlights selfies taken with Portrait Lighting effects on the iPhone X.

Apple shared a similar Brazilian Carnival video last year amid a reported push into more regional marketing campaigns.

The campaign extends to billboards, which will likely appear in major cities across the world over the coming weeks. NHL all-star Steven Stamkos recently announced his participation in the campaign on Twitter, and shared a photo of him standing in front of his own Portrait Lighting selfie at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

The captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning is likely just one of several notable figures who will be featured in the campaign, which is similar to Apple's larger "Shot on iPhone" series. We'll be sure to keep an eye out for more ads, and if you spot one yourself, feel free to share it in the comments section.

It's very ironic these regional ads focus so much on Brazil, because we have the most expensive Apple products in the world.

Anyway, beautiful ad (but I liked the 2017 more).

Can anyone guide me how to take selfies that look like that quality on my $1000 phone?
I guarantee you, 98% of the iPhone X users can't get selfies that look like that by just pulling out their phone and snapping a selfie.

Carnival. bah!

Mardi Gras is better.

My friend, you've clearly never been to carnival. Carnival is in a completely different league than Mardi Gras. They can't even be compared. There are only two other parties in the world (as far as i'm aware) that are as fun as Carnival and those are Kingsday in Amsterdam and October Fest in Thereisienwiese. If anyone knows of any others - please speak up :)

Unless you get robbed of your iPhone, then it's not so fun I guess? ;)

The problem with selfies is - regardless of the camera - that the distance is not high enough to get rid of distortions. You always get a silly looking balloon-like face.
A smart distortion-removal would be nice.

The world disagrees with you as more people travel to Mardi Gras than Carnival. It's cute though that Brazil thinks 6 days is a long party - we started last week.

Carnival is worth the risk. I'm leaving for Brazil next Friday :)

Enjoy your trip. Mardi Gras parades come right by my house.

*face palm* check your sources. I've been to both and I would estimate Brazilian carnival to be no less than 750 to 1,000 times larger than Mardi Gras. Brazil has 200 million people and the whole country is given vacation to celebrate the week. Most people take the month though b/c of Brazil's generous government mandated vacation policies. I'm not kidding when I say they can't even be compared. Do your self a favor and google image "Brazil Carnival Rio."

If you want to go big next year then come to Carnival. If you do, I'll show you around and get you a beer or 10 :)

Enjoy your practice run at Mardi Gras ;)

Yes obviously a nation-wide vs a city-wide holiday gives carnival a leg up. I am speaking of the number of non-locals traveling to see each. Mardi Gras wins in that (perhaps cherry picked) number. ;) Also if one was astute at statistics (which I am) it might be noted that Mardi Gras which is twice as long has an advantage in such a comparison. ;)
