Sorry for another "I'm selling my iPad" thread, but a search didn't turn up any answers to my specific question. I plan on selling my 32GB first generation iPad with WiFi + 3G that has 9 months of Apple care remaining. Seeing as how it's already "old", I assume it will sell for about the same before or after the new iPad is announced. Does anyone else have thoughts on this? I'm trying to decide if I should sell before the announcement or if it will really make a difference. I'm hoping to get $350 for it. Does this sound reasonable?

Thanks in advance!

I would sell before the announcement, right now it's only 1 generation old, in a week it will be 2.

Good luck getting $350 for it. Especially after the iPad 3 comes out. I would ditch it now if possible. If you get $300 for it, I would say you made out alright.

Id say if the iPad 3 ends up having 4GLTE (which i can't see it having yet) then $350 would be a little much... maybe $300. Otherwise, to give you an idea, my basically brand new 32GB WiFI iPad 2 sold for $485 two weeks ago.

I wouldn't pay 300 dollars for a iPad 1 and I don't know anyone who would. maybe he can get 250 or somewhere around that price range. Since it is an iPad 1.

Sold my 32gb wifi 3G 1st gen ipad, no AppleCare for $350 (asking price, no haggling) cash first day after several calls that sounded serious. Picked one guy that could meet nearby and made the sale. Easy. This was over this past weekend. So plenty of ppl are willing to pay the price. One guy even called and offered me $375 to sell to him after I decided on the quick sale to someone else.

I'll agree when iPad 3 is announced it will drop but even right now $350-400 on CL is reasonable plus OP has AppleCare.

dont give up hope OP! i put my 32GB ipad 1st gen 3g + wifi on ebay & craigslist for $350 at 2am last night. by noon today i had about 10 inquiries from craigslist ready to meet and pay, even an offer of $380! but by 1230 someone used "buy it now" on my ebay auction for $350 + shipping.

i thought it would take me a week or so to sell, im starting to wonder how much more I couldve got for it, the demand still seems there.

3g models make them very easy to sell and much more valuable IMO, if I want to sell mine and only after I get the iPad 3, there are ppl here willing to pay $350 for it since it has 3g.

I wouldn't buy a model that didn't have the 3g, use it all the time and make it much more useable in all places and situations, even played golf with it as a gps device.

I'm still not sure I'm going to even sell it though as I might keep it.

Thanks for all of the great replies! I've got it listed on ebay with a buy it now of $375 and a $325 reserve price. I guess I'll list it on CL too and see if I have any bites. Thanks again and I'll post an update if it sells.

Cheers!

i sold my iPad 32 GB wifi with 2 cases and a dock for 350. not too shabby

Likewise, got $350 for 32GB iPad wifi with box and acc. And I also just got $750 for iPad2 64GB wifi/3G with box, Smartshell, smart over, box, headphones, and charger. I'm ready for this release lol.

Just an update for anyone following. I listed it on CL yesterday around noon for $375. I've already had 10 e-mails with 4 people saying they want to purchase it and asking about meeting up somewhere. Hopefully I'll be able to sell it this weekend. *Fingers crossed*

I did have one question. If I've wiped the device and it's at the "connect to iTunes" prompt, how can the person "see it in action"? I would assume that whoever buys it would want to see it connected to WiFi and working. Is this an incorrect assumption?

Thanks for all of the help and advice!

I'd sell it now. The average person doesn't really know about the new iPad yet. Once news break, it makes it a little harder to sell it for a reasonable price. That price is at the sweet spot.

That's a very valid assumption. As a buyer if I can't test out the main features, my money's staying in my pocket. :)

Can you not activate/startup the ipad without connecting to itunes? I thought you could do that, maybe it's only on iOS5?

However you need to, get the device to a workable state, but it can be "setup as new" with none of your info. If you're nervous about it pulling something from your computer, use an alternate computer with a fresh install of Itunes to set up the ipad with nothing on it but the included apps.

You guys must be in well populated areas, $750 for a iPad 2 64GB WiFi?! (Re-Read, w/3G)

I put a post up on craigslist for my iPad 2 64GB WiFi including a Smart Cover for $480 and I've only gotten 4 responses with 2 asking for a lower price.

I was actually considering selling it to one guy who sounds serious for $450 but I don't want to leave money on the table.

I'd take the $450 and run
