Hey guys, I came across an ebay listing from austraila where an old iPhone 3g sold for a lot more than the US value

http://cgi.ebay.com/iPhone-3G-Black...50678551634?pt=AU_Mobile_Phones#ht_994wt_1139

Do you think its ok to sell the iPhone in Australia to make a bit more money. Of course shipping will be a lot of money, but if I can get more than $400 for it it seems like a good deal right? Any thoughts?

Are you Indian? If not, you're Ok. But there was a thread just recently about Indians buying phones to sell them abroad, and the consensus seemed to be that this should not be tolerated. At least not from Indians. I personally think race should have nothing to do with this, and this is equally despicable no matter who does it.

By the way, you would tell the IRS about any profits you make, wouldn't you?

I am not sure the point of this post but it sounds very racist.

If the OP wants to sell his old iPhone to someone in Australia, then he has every right too.

That was the most racist thing I have heard in a long time. I am Indian and I find this very offensive.

Meh. Sell it to who you want.

Oh, and the whole 'not be tolerated' attitude makes me think people like taking on Apple's company persona.

You didn't read the whole post, did you? I said there was a thread quite recently where exactly those things were said in exactly this situation. I also said that I didn't agree with this at all. And your nickname clearly indicates that you want us to believe that you are an intelligent and sophisticated English man with a scottish accent and a license to kill so I thought you would be able to read and comprehend the whole post.

Hey, one can dream can't he?

Don't take it soo hard gnasher....after all....businessmen of the first world (such as yours..I am assuming.) do it all the time....Your $30 shirt is probably made by either an Indian or Chinese and he got only $2 for it :D THis is the same thing happening...except it is the other way around...
To the OP...whatever makes the cash register ring man....If there are people ready to pay for it...why not?

Keep in mind that that phone was unlocked. AUS is also not the same as USD, that was sold for approximately 340USD. That was only one bid, is that a normal price or? I'm not sure but because you're in India (not being racist), it could make it a bit harder because people usually don't like buying from other countries, especially Asian and African countries where the system is what it is and tracking people or money is a lot harder. It may lower the value along with the shipping cost
