Alright so with iPhone pre orders just a few weeks away I need to know your guys opinion. Normally I list my old iPhone about a week before the even and sell it on eBay. But this year I want to know should I sell on eBay before the event or just use Apple's trade in program. Im using my Apple Card this year so it would be refunded directly to that if I do a trade in.

Does anyone know what apple may offer for a XS Max? I see the X right now is up to $450 so I'm guessing probably around $600?

Do you know if Apple will do a promo on the new 11 phone and Apple Card together - like 0% financing ???

Might be too early to tell at the moment but Apple has not announced any financing option on their card. Barclays Card no longer offer points when purchasing Apple products but they still retain their financing option after the debut of Apple card. It might be that Barclay Card remains the only card with Apple financing.

At this moment, it is still too early. I'll wait for the event to see what this year iPhone will feature, find out Apple trade-in value, assess resell value or any carrier promotion if I decide to upgrade this year. I might wait till next year.

That's a good idea to wait till the event.

That would be a bummer if the new GS Apple Card isn't used to promote more people to apply and get a nice promo....

I have the Barclay's Apple Reward card when the 7 came out and loved the $50 Gift card + 0% for 24 months that I paid off with zero interest!
But with zero points toward an Apple gift card, it sort of takes the joy out of getting the 11 iPhone..

You either get cash back from Apple card or financing from Barclay card. It does take the fun out of it that you can't double dip.

Pre ordering iPhones nowadays is madness. Don't do it unless you're fine being a guinea pig and potentially ending up with a dud. Also the trade in value you'll get from  will be a lot less than selling it yourself.
I'd never sell a currently in use iPhone before carefully checking out and using the new one. Only sell it AFTER you get your new phone. Never before.

I have a second phone so that doesn’t matter to me.

Probably not I don’t see them doing any financing with the Apple Card. That being said selling my phone will go towards the 11 and I have some set aside for the difference as well

I wonder how this will work with Apple Card because if you use the Apple card to get the device and then then get the trade in value refunded to your card, technically they will charge the 3% of the value that was refunded (your trade in value) to your card. For instance, if you purchased something at Apple and got the 3% daily cash and later you ended up returning it for a refund, they do charge back your 3% daily cash and you end up owing them back the 3% daily cash.

I guess it depends on how you do it? Do you plan on ordering it online for home delivery? Instore pick up?

I know last year, I was able to get the trade in value into my debit card, even though I used a credit card for the purchase and they did allow that (technically not really, but they do make an exception and with managers approval). This way, I can get it on my debit card and just pay that toward the balance and keep the 3% daily cash.

Anyways, for me I'm on the Apple iUP program so I'll definitely be upgrading and trading in my current one.

Ya? But if they charge me the 3% daily cash on what I was refunded if I’ve used the cash then I spent that money if not then I just pay the cash back? I’m still not out any extra money either way because I either use it or pay the statement with it.

Agreed, I’m traditionally not an early adopter myself. In my area the 7 series had reception issues at launch. Verizon blamed Apple and vise versa. Took a bit to get ironed out. The XS/Max series has an ongoing thread about connectivity issues. My Max has been fine, and my favorite iPhone yet, knock on wood. That’s why I usually wait and take advantage of Black Friday deals. By then bugs are generally worked out and the new phones have real world usage and I decide if upgrading is worth it to me.
I also agree, trade in value is almost always less than what you’d get by selling it privately. Some people prefer to trade it in to avoid any hassle, but I use swappa and haven’t had any issues.
