Just a funny thought.

I’m upgrading to series 4 from series 0. Looking online I can get about £90 for my series 0. Question is would holding it and keeping it safe for a long period of time prove valuable. Will the Apple Watch become a collectors item for people in the future?

My series 1 watch SS with loop is worth 25 dollars on apple, Im just going to keep mine. I ordered the series 4

I had a similar experience. My Series 0 SS is worth $25 to Apple. I suppose I'll keep it as a backup--maybe for 40 years!

I’d be very surpised if I could sell my S0 sport for anything worth the time. I’m keeping it, even though the future collectible value of the aluminum model won’t be anything near the value of the SS. It’s more about having the conversation piece. I have my dad’s old 1970’s Pulsar LED Watch. It no longer works, but actually is worth quite a lot. Has too much sentimental value for me to sell though.

Where are you looking that you can get £90 for it? I was looking at £50 max on a recycling site and can't see many going on eBay or Gumtree for anything worth the time.

Would love to see a pic of that when you get the chance.

I wouldn't keep it with the expectation that it will ever be worth much. Anything that sells as many units as modern Apple product is never going to be truly rare. Even early Apple IIs, which sold in way smaller quantities that the Apple Watch are not really worth that much more than they were new, and they're also a lot more important to Apple's history than the watch.

That said, I generally keep my favorite Apple products. Not because I expect them to be worth much, but because they're fun to have around and to look back on. I'm keeping my S0 despite ordering a S4!

My SS s0 isn’t worth anything major, so I keep it as my backup option. I either wear it while my SB s3 is charging, or occasionally strictly for aesthetic when I go out for the night. The SS with the link bracelet is such a beautiful look.

Isn’t it dangerous to keep it for long period of time with a battery inside?

There is the risk of the battery expanding or swelling, but more than anything, it likely would just be fully depleted or defective to the point where would not sufficiently charge or hold a charge.

Music magpie are offering £100 for Series 0 stainless steel 38mm and £110 for the 42mm. Use EXTRA5 and you’ll also get an extra £5

I'm going to keep mine, they're not worth anything now and I'm unsure if that'll change in the future.

They won’t be anything worth in the future. It’s a mass produced tech device , there is nothing original about the Apple Watch, unless you had a Proto type for example. Or, if it was never unbox and if it was still sealed, then *maybe* might be were something for a First GEN.

If it was a unique limited edition model and it was still brand new sealed in the box with the plastic wrapping then it might be worth something in the future. Otherwise, probably not.

The 1st gen Gold Edition is going to be worth the most in the future, not many made. One just sold for 975 on ebay, if I find one complete with box I might buy one to hold on to.

I'm guessing there are just a handful of the sealed box Gold Editions out in the wild.
