Which seller would be most likely to accept a return if I am not satisfied with my purchase?

(I can't decide which MacBook Pro computer should be my first and I want a backup plan)

Do you have to purchase it through Apple or could you buy it at Amazon and return it to Apple if you realize you made a mistake?

If you buy on Amazon, you return to Amazon. If you buy from Apple online, you can return in-store or online. You can't do a cross-retail return.

Apple, for one.

Best Buy, in my experience, has also been more than amenable to laptop returns.

Apple directly. If you buy online, as long as you initiate the return within 14 days, you get another 12 days to ship it back to them through 2-day shipping. Note that you get the 12-day extension from when you initiate the return, so if you initiate on day 13 you effectively get until day 25 to return it

Agreed. A lot of the resellers (Adorama, B&H, etc) appear to have decent return policies, but when you read the fine print, they exclude about 75% of their inventory, including opened notebook computers.
