I am selling my refurbed 2013 MacBook Air, and would like to clear the EFI password from it. Any chance I can do this safely myself, or do I need to schedule an appointment at Apple Store for this? All I can find on Google is the 'hack' for stolen items, which this is clearly not.
Thanks~

But yeah, you can refer those hack steps to have a try. By the way, how you can set up efi password?

For efi password removal, it is possible to ask for apple support help. At least, if I were you, I would pay a visit to get some guidance.

If you know the firmware password and can boot into Recovery, you should be able to use the Firmware Password Utility to remove it.

The important question is:
Do you remember your firmware (EFI) password?
If Yes, just boot to the Recovery partition (Restart, holding Command-R), then turn off the firmware password from the menu. You'll need to enter the firmware password to do that.
If you DON'T remember the firmware password, then you have no choice except to take to a "genius", who can clear the password for you...
