Due to unforeseen circumstances I need to sell my Macbook Pro. How much should I ask for it on craigslist? It's the late 2019 15" model 256 storage, 16gb memory, near mint condition with applecare+, Thanks for any advice.

Is it the 13", 15"? Which processor does it have? Does it have base RAM?

Your best bet is looking on ebay for "sold items" that match the exact spec of yours. Until then nobody can help you precisely without the exact specs.

On e-bay it goes from around 1100-1300 dollars.

I know craigslist's prices are a bit inflated usually, so you might be able to get more! But the price is getting dangerously close to a new 2020 13" model, with the new-ish magic keyboard.

Your applecare+plus will likely make it more valuable than others.

Hope I helped!

You might want to also check Swappa.com as a place to sell it and to see what prices others are listing and selling the same model and config.

What Cookie18 said is super important. Prices can go up really fast if you have different configurations from the base one, once upgrades are almost impossible for anything. You can get the processor and storage and ram in the "about this mac" menu.

Sorry, It's the late 2019 15" model 256 storage, 16gb memory, touch bar, base model, near mint condition with applecare+.

Alright. My quotation is extremally wrong.

Are you sure it is a late 2019 15" model? I believe the late2019 model is a 16", not a 15".

If it's the 15" you could expect around $1700-1800 according to recent ebay prices. Maybe more because of the Applecare. If it's the 16" as @aangvento correctly points out it would be more again.

It has to be a 15" because the 16" base gets 512GB storage...
Wops. yap, that is correct.

Prices are between 1600-2000 dollars. You can likely ask for 1700-1800. Don't expect to sell it fast, even if it's selling for a cheap price (once it's still a lot of money). But be sure you are advertising it with the right year and specs and such! With you luck, @iphone joe!

Thank you for your help.

I'd also try Letgo, Offerup and possibly Facebook marketplace too. As a lot of local buyers of higher priced tech use those. Same standard advice as Craigslist applies for safety and cash only. Plus communication is in app and you don't have to give out your number until you know you are dealing with a potential buyer.

Also use a burner number. Don't post your real number. You don't want to get hammered by spam calls afterward. There are plenty of free short term burner number apps which support calls and texting.

I always sell my stuff to cashforyourmac.com. They are extremely easy to deal with and pay pretty well.

They are offering about 1300 if it is flawless, or less than 1200 if the computer has one tiny scruff you can barely see even if you tilt it under strong light. Comparing the best they will pay you with the cheapest option in ebay, they are paying you almost 30% less. And that's without the 3% fee for instant payment over paypal, which would likely be the payment method you would receive in ebay. Or counting the cash payment for all other used sales sites other users suggested.

However, you don't need to wait for a buyer or deal with the selling, writing up an ad or anything else.

For 400 dollars I think it is worth the hassle of writing up an ad, taking pictures and typing out specs.

There's a lot of risk with Ebay though, and I prefer not to deal with it. I found CashForYourMac.com to be very easy and fast. They even insure the shipment, which (last I checked) MacMeAnOffer.com doesn't do. Although I haven't used them firsthand, there are good user experience posts on MR about Swappa.com too.

That is an important point. Insuring the shipment is extremally important for something this expensive. And it is faster. Doesn't sound like a bad choice, especially with how well people speak of it.

But that pun tho. (mac me an offer)...

Let's be realistic in our advices. I have seen lots of 16 inchers selling or R/appleswap for $1800. And that was 3-4 months ago. I am pretty sure they are even cheaper now.
Why? Because $2039 will get you refurbished MBP 16 from Apple. You can't charge more than that.
When it comes to 15 inch, then obviously it should be priced well below of the 16 inch' price. Why? Because if you ask $1800 for 15 inch, anyone can easily add extra $200 and get the base ref MBP 16 with 512Gb of storage/better everything.
Also comparing Ebay prices is not a good reference point if you are not going to ship it internationally and calculate the fees.
If somebody on Ebay is selling this for $1900 -
1) It doesn't mean seller gets $1900 on hand - you have to deduct big fees from Paypal/Ebay.
2) Price is high, because of the demand from overseas, where MBPs are more expensive.
3) You have to ship it overseas and be prepared to insure shipping and other problems.
===================
Personally I would pay for your specs around $1500 - $1600. And i believe this is a fair price to ask.

Besides the fees your eBay points are way off.

Wish you luck, OP! Prices are inflating since quarantine started, so the used market is not stable. Which means prices might go up or down quite fast!

I agree with @Cookie18 , Ebay is known for high fees but the other points are a bit off. Most ebay listings are local only, and even if they are not, they handle global shipping for you. The market tends to go to the cheaper price unless something is pushing the prices up. That's why most prices reflect the US price in ebay (and why so many sell from he US and not as many from other places where they can sell locally for much more).

Even if you are shipping to the other side of the street you should insure something this expensive. You really should, the few dollars you would pay to insure it are worth every penny.

But how would you explain Ebay pricing if people are buying open box/new MBP 13 inches for Apple's Retail price of $1200-$1300 from unknown sellers without return and warranties? Why wouldn't they just buy from Best buy/Apple directly?
Because they are probably international buyers, who have no access to best buy or Apple.
Ebay is also not really just for international shipping. most listings are US only or UK only. Shipping internationally is a choice.
I have done myself it many times. You just ship it to US/UK warehouse and ship it to your country again yourself using 3rd party warehouse services.
All in all, some of the Ebay prices are overinflated.

In that case, it's best for the seller. It is a fast and national for the seller, no risks involved. The risks are for the buyer. If it means you get a cheaper price sending to a warehouse instead of a household, it works?

Also, macbooks don't lose as much value when they are open. I will not discuss why it is the case, but you can look at the prices for "flawless 2020 MacBook pro" in your local craigslist. They are still pretty high. Likely close towaht you would pay in the apple store. but because of the strong warranty, the couple hundred bucks you would save are worth it for some people.
