I gave my MBP away to my father. I don’t need a new phone right now. I bought an ASK to my iPad Pro, so far I’m really enjoying it. I will be saving money to get an iPhone Plus model next year (Probably 7 Plus, if lucky, 8 Plus).

I discovered that what I was doing, and wanted to do is an act of a person who is always not satisfied with what he/she has. I didn’t talk about my history of buying/selling devices, I’ve done it a lot to a point that I started losing significant amounts of money. From now on, I will try to stay away from this act.

Thanks for the people that really wanted to help with their comments. I appreciate your time and effort. That is all for now.

What is ASK? Android Satellite Knife. Please buddy when you post something write in full. Not everyone is like you tech-nerdy, tech-junkie etc...

I know, it sounds crazy. I’m going to do it because, I have an iPad Pro 10.5 that I carry everywhere with me. My MBP sits at home, staring at me from the desk. I don’t even use my desk anymore! (I know I should, cuz I started getting backaches )

I believe that it’ll be a great experience ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

If you are giving away your MBP which is on your desk then sell your desk too. You don’t need desk for X. In fact you will need to sell your bed too, sleeping on the floor will keep you backache away so you can use X more.

I don't see an issue with it. I went iOS (7 Plus and iPad Pro 10.5) only for my computing needs about 6 months ago and I have had no issues or regrets. If you don't use it, sell it.

I wouldn't give up my 2016 rMBP for ANY phone. No way, no how. It's my go to device and far more functional than my iPhone or iPad Pro. That shiny iPhone X will be old before a year and you'll be missing your MBP.

Probably cos u never develop software on a phone ;)

So it sounds like you've executed a plan which is to give the MBP to your father and not go for the X. Of those two decisions, I guess the one I think is most rational is not going for the X. Honestly, I can't imagine being a young student today without having a computer, but I'm not young and I'm not a student, so what do I know :)

I have an iPad Pro, iPhone and 2012 MBP. I can't imagine not having a computer, there's just too much that I do with it. That speaks to your point though, if you're not using something you own, maybe it's worth selling to get you to the next point in life. Like my buddy who had a brand new truck, had it paid off in 3 years and sold it to get himself established in a large city and pay off student loans. He managed, I'm sure he had regrets, but it worked out. It'll work out for you too.

I think what you're figuring out though are life lessons. And that is a good thing. Nobody's perfect, I'm sure nearly everyone on this forum has probably done something that they later regret. By the way, I am into technology also and the wheels are always turning about what to buy next. I think about things, research to a borderline obsessive degree and buy some of the stuff that's on my "wish list". Some of it I never end up buying, but thinking of buying something isn't so bad either. Look for what you need, look for what's practical, get your degree, get your loans squared away and once you graduate....buy new tech until your heart's content.

Oh and going to labs, at least when I was in college back in the 90's SUCKED! lol

Wow. Good for you!

And thank you for posting one of the most honest, thought-provoking posts I've seen in quite a while. I like your perspective.

Respect.

I guess if you don't need your mbp I can understand selling it to get a phone. But personally I need my mbp for work. Smartphones and tablets aren't going to cut it.

I would just save up to buy an iPhone x.

I will be selling some of my blood next week to get the iPhone X, I must have it at any cost.

I'm not selling anything for a phone.

Every device I own has a specific purpose and selling a computer for a device to do the job that computer is perfectly suited for is not going to happen in my case.
The only thing I’d sell for a phone is another phone. But as you said every other device has it’s own purpose.

You are the real MVP. Nice work with the self-correction. People die and never achieve what you did.
