The prices of the original never really "dipped" in price since they were first sold. You can get pretty darn near close today what you could have got selling it prior to the release of the 3G.

Chances are the 3G will still retain most of it's value.

Yes. It remembers everything. It knows every phone you've ever had with them.

And sometimes ones that you never had! When I went in to get my 3G, they asked me if I had still had the LG (or something), which I never had! LOL

I sold my 1st iPhone last summer before WWDC for more than I paid for it, but won't be doing that this time. I doubt that there will be any deals for customers on contract. We'll see, though.

I am a little worried about this myself, Part of me wants to sell the 3g now but the way I look at it I know the 3g will be worth at least 200 dollars and that will make the non upgrade price 399/499 back down to the subsidized price of 199/299 if the prices even stay the same. I feel that the iPhone is special enough to Att to allow apple to give a special price to 3g customers so I am secretly hoping that to be announced at WWDC. I guess the worst thing that can happen is I have to keep using my 3g till December.

Good Idea to sell it before the announcement... but for the iPhone 3G I got stuck in a bad situation where I couldn't get a new phone because of the stupid wait / backorders, and I had already sold my first gen iPhone on eBay... so yea... lets hope it's not stupid chaotic this time around.

I think they will do subsized pricing, just as the did with the first iPhone. They key here for apple is their monthly revenue. However I don't think we will be able to purchase the new iPhone till sometime in July. They may announce it come Monday, but not be able to buy it till July.
