Selling my 4S on Craigslist

I had the same phone as you unlocked. I just sold mine on Craigslist a few days ago for $400. I've sold a total of four things on CL and the number one rule is to only accept cash. Secondly, you should try to meet in a public place. My number one spot is a food court in a mall. I took a bit of a risk when I sold my iPhone 4S. We were suppose to meet inside a target around 9-10 but I thought they stayed open later than that. Once I got there and he was on his way, he told me that he needed to stop by an ATM to grab the cash. There was a bank of america really close, so I ended up selling the phone to him there. He was a nice guy but I could of easily been robbed. He could of taken my car, iPhone, and even my life!

So I guess in future dealings, make a plan and stick to it! You'll be much safer that way. Good luck!

Tell him to send you payment via PayPal Gift. That way he can't falsely file a dispute (assuming pickup, you wouldn't be able to provide a tracking number).

Then meet him in a police station or a bank lobby.

While it's fishy that he's offering you more, I can't see how that would be risky. Even less risky than taking potentially fake cash I think.

If you want to accept PayPal, preferably do not deliver in person.

1) Ship with Insurance. PayPal puts a hold on your funds sometimes until you provide tracking information, or until it is delivered. If you add insurance for couple of dollars, USPS/UPS/FedEX needs signature from the buyer. So you are safe.

As some already posted, if you are dealing in person

1) It has to be in public place (not a parking lot)
2) Do during day time. Probably during your lunch break at a place with WiFi
3) Carry a pen to check dollar bills. I think OfficeMax sells it.
