i'd like to see it with sim card in the phone and box sealed. can i call verizon after i receive the phone and tell them to deactivate the sim card in the phone so it won't associate with my number?

any reply to this? those of you on the same boat, do you leave the new sim card in the phone when selling? doesn't that have your phone number associated with?

Sorry for the "obvious" question, but did you call Verizon? That would make the most sense to me. Doesn't even have to be a matter of telling them you are selling it if you don't want to. "It's a gift, I do not want to open it, I do not want activation issues, what is the best course of action?"

Best of luck

I was under the assumption that until the phone is activated on the verizon network, the sim card has none of your info on it. When I got my 6S, Bestbuy let me take the phone without activating it. I called a Verizon phone number that asked me to input some info about my account and the new phone, the new phone activated and my old phone stopped receiving calls. If I would of just stuck the sim card from the old phone into the new one and not used the new sim card I could of saved the $30 activation charge.

Except Verizon surcharge that $30 upgrade fee at the checkout already

I heard if you buy from apple full price they don’t charge the fee, they just want your account info to make sure you’re a Verizon customer. Not sure if you buy on the upgrade plan...I’m holding off until I can get a sim free version from apple... I know Verizon loves to get paid
[doublepost=1509670172][/doublepost]Hold on, what happens if you buy the phone and don’t want to activate it? For instance, you still want to use your old phone for a month or two. Are you saying they force you to activate the phone before you leave the store? That would be bogus if that’s the case.
