To follow up, I got a replacement 4S via the Apple store tonight. My initial tests this evening show the correct battery usage; I'm not draining 6-7% per hour.

Late today, I discovered that the standby and usage counts were rising in sync with each other even when the phone was sleeping. I also recalled some connection issues with iTunes when first setting my original phone up that my wife's didn't have. I tried toggling both WiFi and Cell Data off to see if I could determine if was a particular device trying to connect, but both did it. I think in the end, my phone had some background process constantly trying to connect to the internet, keeping the phone "in use" while sleeping. This occured with no e-mail accounts, no iCloud, and no notorious internet apps (like Facebook or Twitter) installed.

I'm going to leave my new phone off charge tonight and see how it behaves.

I recommend anyone still having battery issues that have exhausted all other avenues in these threads to go to the Genius Bar and let them help. They ended up being very accodomating and apologetic tonight.

Did that already. They were very accommodating like you experienced, and they replaced my phone no questions asked. I only wish my new phone actually resolved the problem. If anything, this second one is worse than the first one was. So disappointed. :(
