The Roku remote has a headphone jack that allows you to listen to the audio of a video while watching it via the Roku.

The Apple TV allows you to AirPlay audio to AirPlay speakers but it would be awesome if the iPad/iPhone could be consider Airplay speakers/receivers so iOS devices could duplicate the Roku remote capabilities.

Are there any apps that allow iOS devices to receive audio from videos when being played on the Apple TV?

I've searched that very same thing about two months ago and the only thing that I found was something called Airfoil that requires you to send audio from your AppleTV, to your Mac, back to your iDevice.

It works, but the audio lag generated renders the whole idea useless.

if jailbroken you can use airfloat. at one point there was an equivalent to airfloat, literally 1:1 on the app store, but i believe it was removed. it's called airmusic play, i still have it on my iphone and it works the same airfloat

Thanks. My iPad is jailbroken so I'll check out Airfloat and test how well it works.
