Send feature not working

I've just switched from OS X Tiger to Leopard. My files have rebuilt like 3 times; Switching to mobile me is an option I haven't activated yet, but- now I am receiving files- but when I reply to messages, the Send button is not lit up- ie. I can't use it. How has this become de-activated? Can I re-activate the Send button?
